Probably a good place for modern art aficionados. We were attracted by the Chagall but disappointed to find only a very few… Pretty small on the inside but nicer on the outside though. The garden is nice and the building architecture interesting. There is a treat to enjoy the sun in a mild day or the restaurant. Keep the expectations down to the museum. Park in the overflow parking down as the main parking is on the smaller side.

We visited on a beautiful day and so the views and setting of the building could be enjoyed. We were disappointed by many of the exhibits which were dull and uninspiring. There was quite a bit of building going on outside which made some areas less attractive. At 17 euros we felt the cost was high for what was offered and would not return.

We had a wonderful experience at the Fondation Maeght! The gardens and Miro’s Labyrinth were outstanding. We especially liked the temporary exhibition regarding Henri Matisse and Pierre Bonnard’s friendship. There was a plethora of paintings by them and the galleries and many explanations. In the museum shop you can find a book titled “Sketches of a Journey” by the artist Pierre Bonnard himself. It might just be one of the greatest books I have ever read. The Fondation Maeght is a majestic place and another great spot is the rooftop patio. When you look at the hills of Provence, you fall into a state of bliss.
