About
In the 14th century, during their stay in Avignon, the popes built a papal castle in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Impressed by the area's exceptional “terroir” (the soil and its growing conditions), they planted vineyards around the castle on terraces covered with smooth rounded pebbles. Established in the northern part of Châteauneuf du Pape, the Jaume family has been dedicated to the art of wine growing since 1826. This venerable profession is our legacy, but above all it is our passion, requiring discipline, perseverance and a respect for nature and the challenges she presents us with. Every vintage is different from the last and we must skillfully adapt our growing techniques to the ever-changing behaviour of the vines, the grapes and the terroir. Our aim, as skilled wine growers, is to produce, carefully and lovingly, wines that are intense, rich and complex and that reflect and embody the wonderful terroir of the southern Rhône Valley.

We so enjoyed our group tour here. Ellen, who manages the family owned winery along with her brothers, gave us a fascinating and informative tour. After the tour, we enjoyed a wine tasting of the Alain Jaume wines and they were fantastic! The BEST part of the day was our visit to the wine shop, where we purchased a couple of great wines to enjoy in our stateroom on the riverboat cruise.

We found this charming winery as we were touring the Chateauneuf-de-Pape region. Although we arrived right at the closing time of 6pm, the very nice lady on site welcomed us in for a tasting. We found the reserve grand veneur roses to be very good and incredibly affordable. The old vine vintages are of course also excellent as you would expect from this famous wine region. The hostess was very accommodating and we would definitely recommend this winery as must see when here.

Excellent visit to this family owned winery. Probably the only producer in the area that does a tour, tasting and lunch. Great guide, lovely wines and great home cooked provencale lunch.

We had a great time at this winery - never had such an extensive wine tasting !
We can just recommend the grand tasting with lunch and a general tour around the winery.
All the information were very interesting, the guide was very ambitious and the food (and of course the wine) was very valuable.

We contacted the winery directly to arrange for a tour of their facilities, the vineyards, and of course their wines. Our tour guide spoke excellent English and educated all of us about the growing of the grapes and the processing of the wines. They offer a special lunch "La Table d'Alain Jaume" where you get to taste nine different wines with homemade french country food. Not your normal lunch - wine pairing. This was the best we all had ever experienced, and we have visited a lot of wineries in the US, France, and Italy. Menu we had started with Crustacean Terrine with lemon foam, followed by Provencal Beef with grand veneur sauce, potato Millefeuille and provence vegetables, followed by an assortment of aged cheeses, and ending with Williams Pear delight with melted dark chocolate. Plus bread, coffee. Each course was served with three different wines. Now that is what a tasting should be! I doubt you can find any better. Better make a reservation if you happen to be in Provence.

The pairing of great wines, mainly Chateauneuf-du-Pape, with local cheeses, tapenade and meats made for a gustatory and informative experience.
