Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This monument is a work of incredible detail and art. View it from afar and then slowly walk closer, stopping to take in the new detail that comes into view. Don't forget to walk from one side to the other for more awesomeness.

Fabulous stop to see if you are in Marseille. We were here on a stop on our cruise in early May. We took a taxi from the harbour area and walked back which is going downhill, worked out really well. This place is amazing, beautiful details everywhere. There are two museums on site the one on the right is the Natural Museum, we did not spend much time here. Both of the museums are free. We really like the museum on the left side and spent quite a bit of time there. If you walk through to the back of the palace there are grounds you can walk through. There is also a zoo that you can walk down to, we had a time crunch so we skipped the zoo. We walked back down the main street across from the palace and stopped at L'Oli Be for lunch, hadn't planned on it but there were lots of people eating on the patio and the food looked delicious. The food was amazing so glad we stopped.

The Palais Longchamp is a truly awesome sight and upon approach your first thought is WOW! It's a little bit of a journey outside the city centre - 10 minutes and 4 stops on the metro from the harbour. It's massive structure, elegant statues and figurines and mesmerising waterfall and fountain means it's a sight not to be missed! It has stairwells to each side allowing you to climb up and get wonderful views of the pond below and also get great photos of the city too. It is very similar to the one found in the main park of Madrid.

This is such a pretty place leading onto a lovely park/garden area. The guide said it was a 'thank you gift'! I'd guess we'd all like this kind of thank you!
The sculptures and water features look amazing from down below looking up, from the side as you walk up and from the top looking down. It is spectacular. Even better there is no admission charge.

Palais Longchamp, a great place to visit and watch the fountains. We took the metro from the port to the nearby station, ideal to know if on a cruise. And it took about 5-10 minutes to walk, first impressions was a massive wow!!! Great to watch the water flowing and fountains gushing and the architecture was stunning.

The fountain is a Baroque masterpiece with many layers and characters. On a sunny day you can sit on a bench and enjoy the play of water and light. Groups of children visit the nearby museums and garden.

A short metro journey and short walk from the centre brings you to this stunning palace. Fantastic stonework, fountains and waterfalls. Great for photos and sitting on the grass taking it all in. You must visit!

This was a lovely part of our walk around town. You really can't miss it as you head up the hill from the port and walk along the parks. This is a true monument and sort of takes your breath away. Very 19th Century.

The palace itself is quite nice, even a bit impressive. Especially given that it was built just because the aqueduct arrived in Marseille.
The park was rather disappointing though. Especially the part with the "Funny Zoo" which was absolutely ridiculous. What a joke. Poorly maintained as well.

Nice park and amazing monument. A bit difficult to access the actual park with a stroller. Nice kids’ playground but no cafes or water sellers so a bit awful climb without water during a heatwave.

Cordialement

Would anybody tell me how to take tram from Vieux Port to Palais Longchamp? I know there is a tram take us to go to Notre-Dame (Circle one). Is that the same place we may take tram to Palais Longchamp (maybe circle two?)? Does anybody know whether the fountain will be fixed by early May 2018? Thank you.
Written 17 December 2017
Thank you, Jas, for your response.
We will take tram to go to Notre Dam Cathedral, and then back to old town. Probably will be able to find another tram or metro to go to Palais Longchamp at Vieux Port. Thanks again.
