About Cloud 9 Adventure
Trekking & snowshoeing walks in the Chamonix valley and beyond. We can organise anything from a half-day snowshoe hike in the winter, to a day out walking or mountain biking, to a multi-day trek such as the Tour du Mont Blanc or the Haute Route from Chamonix to Zermatt. Not only are we are Tour du Mont Blanc specialists, but we also do some of the lesser known treks in the area, such as the Tour of the Monte Rosa, the Tour des Combins, Tour des Fiz, Tour des Dents du Midi, Tour des Muverans, and further afield. Whether you need a guided hike, or you'd prefer to be independent, let us do the organising! We can book your accommodation and transport for a self-guided trek. We also offer the Walker's Haute Route from Chamonix to Zermatt, a day out on the Italian side of Mont Blanc, overnight trips to stay in a mountain refuge, and our excellent guides know every corner of the Chamonix valley!

Emma Jack was our guide on the Tour de Monte Rosa I've been on seven treks in the Alps, including Chamonix-Zermatt, the TMB, and the Bernese Oberland. I've also managed to climb seven of the easiest peaks. The trip that I have enjoyed the most was the 2016 Tour de Monte Rosa led by Emma Jack. The weather and varied scenery were superb (except for day two which was wet and misty). The group was eclectic but friendly and the length and difficulty of the tour just right for me. The accommodation (five nights in hotels and five in refuges) was of a very good standard and was fabulous at the Rifugio Gabiet and at the Hotel Hannigalp in Grachen. The Theodulhutte and Europahutte were both in quite spectacular locations, though the latter was too stuffy on a hot summer’s night, despite the elevation. Some of the credit for the success of the trip has to go to Emma. She was very professional and prioritised our safety, as all good guides do, but she also successfully combined being a friend on the trek with positive leadership, which is rare. The trek wasn't without incident, but Emma was very capable and able to fine tune the route to our individual requirements with obvious benefits. If I was considering a particular trek it would be a definite plus if Emma was involved, and it was interesting to note that most people in our Monte Rosa group had already trekked with Emma before. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to anyone planning a trip. It's nice to see that Cloud 9's photo gallery for Monte Rosa is currently all from our trip.

Many thanks to Emma from Cloud 9 Adventures who organised every detail of our cross country ski week across the Jura. Despite the challenging weather conditions, she reorganized for us tailor made transportation on a daily basis to where we could actually ski. Her expert knowledge of the area, the trails and all it's nooks and crannies shows that she has guided many people on those trails. We were well accompanied every step of the way through their great app. Three cheers for Cloud 9 Adventures for making this trip a wonderful holiday.

For the past five years Cloud 9 has organized a private guided hiking adventure for our family in Europe - including the Alps, the Pyrenees and Tuscany The trips have been outstanding! Emma and Helen's attention to detail means everything goes very smoothly with each day of hiking tailor made to our family's ability. Emma challenges us to go higher, including hiking a 4,000 m peak - but our safety is always paramount. Her knowledge of the area means our itineraries are full of hidden gems - amazing trails off the beaten track and secluded mountain cafes with delicious food.

Emma Jack and Helen O'Hara know their stuff - what to be aware of whilst doing the Haute Route, the beautiful things to look out for, and the best places to stay each night. We had a perfect 10 day holiday over 13-23 September 2019. Each day's walking provided new delights, and the agenda was stretching but always within our grasp. We had a briefing on the first night in Chamonix from a local guide, Mark, and this was invaluable along with Emma's daily notes. Mark knew the Haute Route well, and was able to give detailed advice. Fine sunny weather always helps - and we were incredibly fortunate to pass the whole 10 days without a serious cloud or raindrop - but Emma tells you the 'get-outs' in case you are not so lucky, and have to retreat to the valleys (definitely, there are parts of the walk we would not have wanted to do in bad weather, or with snow on the ground). We were also provided with all sorts of telephone numbers to use in an emergency (fortunately we had no occasion to use them). We loved Emma's choice of accommodation and appreciated her sense of what would be good and characterful at each place - from cheery huts to spoiling hotels. On a practical level, everything happened as it should. Our suitcases were moved on each day without a hitch, and on arrival at each new hotel or hut, our reservation was recognised and ready for us. A faultless holiday which we never forget.

We booked an 11-day self-guided Tour du Mont Blanc with Cloud 9 and they were just wonderful to deal with, from initial planning through to our final Tour day. Emma, Alison and Helen made sure every question we asked was answered and when my weird vestibular vertigo unexpectedly kicked in on Day 1, were happy to meet us to review our route to find lower altitude options where we might need them. Emma even got advice for me from some doctors in the party she was guiding on the Haute Route. That's how dedicated to their clients they are! The weather was also against us for some days, with unseasonal snow and again, Cloud 9 were there with taxi transfer numbers, bus timetables etc to help us navigate around. The hotels and refuges they booked for us were great and every single night we thought our room seemed to be the best in the place! We had glacier views for nearly every one of our nights on the tour which made the early morning starts more bearable - opening the curtains to the sight of pinky-yellow dawn creeping over the blue glaciers is absolutely magical. Emma and Alison really have an incredibly thorough knowledge of the Tour which meant that we could take alternative trails and were often the only people on them - many times we were walking through dappled woods and stunning open vistas and it was just us, accompanied only by the sound of cowbells, crickets, an eagle circling lazily above us and the trickle of water filling a cow trough somewhere. Those are the memories that make those uphill trudges worth every step! I honestly can't recommend Cloud 9 highly enough. When I think of how their input transformed our Tour experience I can't believe we ever considered NOT using them!
