The skiing here and at the linked Flegere is very good especially the black and red runs - the blue runs have too many paths. I would give a 5 for this despite the high cost (note over 65 years olds get a significant discount and take a programmable ski card with you to save a few more Euros).
Unfortunately the restaurant offerings are poor value for money. The main restaurants are now run by Maison Des Drus and so there are now only the Bergerie de Planpraz and Foehn which have inside seating (the Refuge de Flegere was closed). The former of these, the Bergerie, only has about 50 seats in the restaurant (ignoring the small area underneath for picnickers) but is so stupidly expensive we nearly walked out: the cheapest meals were a pasta dish and chicken cordon bleu for 30 Euro each - the other meals were 40 Eu. To add insult the chicken was overcooked - we did mention this. It was amusing that a local guide who took his clients to eat here when asked if he was eating said no. The Foehn sandwich place has very few places inside: so if the weather is cold there are simply not enough inside places to eat on the entire Brevent-Flegere resort. I do not include the restaurant at the top Le Brevent because its not on the piste and you have to take a cablecar up and down which appears to run only once per hour. The outside eating places were also expensive. One of the French waitresses said to us we were some of the rare French speaking clients - this is not surprising as the lift pass and eating costs are too high for the majority of French people; which is OK if that's the marketing plan of course , i.e. target the rich Swiss, English and Eastern Europeans. The good news is that mid-week in January there are no queues at the lifts. I have skied in Chamonix for over 30 years but in future I think I will only ski on sunny days so I can take a picnic and eat on the slope like many were doing.

Terrible experience. Due to heavy wind the cable car was only partially operating and people was creating lines to return to base. Unfortunately this company has no “baby priority” policy and we was forced to wait outside in the freezing wind for over half an hour to get a position with a 2 year old baby on the next lift. We tried to stay in the warm of the restaurant till the next lift come but it seems the employee was very satisfied watching a baby screaming due to freezing temperatures outside, since he refused to give a priority at least to the mother and the kid. Congrats to your employees. Not family friendly. Should we avoid in winter.

Views were nice. We went up to do my paragliding flight. There were many paragliders taking off from here.

1. To reach the base of cable car station from town centre: walk for 10-20 minutes uphill. This can be challenging, if not deterrent, to some. Not sure if there is an alternative way to reaching the station; if there is, please publicize it.

2. The gondola lift system was like a conveyor belt: numerous gondolas dotted along the cable line from base to Plan Praz, positioned at a fixed distance between them, 'flowing' continuously (the cable runs continuously). Just hop into one quickly if it is not full: it does not stop flowing to wait for a gondola to be filled.

3. The gondolas stop at Plan Prazt at 2000m only: restaurant, ski lesson. It so happened that on a particular day in April, there was no further service (cable car) to reach Le Brévent 2 525m, perhaps due to being out of season. The crowd was also much less compared to Aiguille du Midi.

Hello, The entire Compagnie du Mont-Blanc team thanks you for sharing your experience. To get to the start of the Plan Praz gondola you can walk from the centre of Chamonix via the "Montée de la Mollard", by car or by public transport with the town's buses. The gondola runs continuously throughout the day during opening hours. It takes you to Plan Praz (2000m), the starting point of the ski slopes in winter. You can go there for a meal or coffee in the restaurant or refreshment room, or to admire the view of the Chamonix valley and the Mont Blanc massif. The Brevent cable car (2525m) closed for the winter season on 16 April and the beginner ski area remained open until 23 April. The reopening for the summer season is announced for 10 June 2023. We hope to see you again on your next visit to Chamonix! Best regards,

Just back from a long weekend skiing in Brevent and Flegere, Chamonix.
We purchased the lift passes online and just scanned the email confirmation to be given our ski passes automatically.
All lifts were open and working well.
Most of the pistes were well groomed although some were left with deeper snow.
An excellent ski resort with a variety of grades of piste.

Well worth the trip in good weather as you can enjoy great views across the value to Mont Blanc. There is a good little cafge with terrace at the half-way stage.

Brevet never fails, after a steep ten minute walk up to the Gondola from the village you take the 1st Ride up onto the plateau. You then take the Brevent Cable Car to the top. Stunning views from the top onto Mont Blanc and the valley floor below and it’s worth taking lunch at the restaurant. Skis on and it’s a 10 minute ski on the Black run back down the mountain. One of many great runs the mountain. Has to offer.

We used the cable car as transport during our hike to TMB; it enabled us to ride down to Chamonix to spend the night there, then return to the trail the next morning. The price was relatively reasonable (€10.50 per person each way), and the base station is within walking distance of downtown Chamonix and our hotel.

The ride took less than 10 minutes and was an efficient way to avoid having to hike the long series of switchbacks that we could see below. The views right from the top aren't the best, but you don't need to hike up too far to get them. Even for a day trip, this would be a nice opportunity to get some height and see new perspectives on the mountains.
