Provides a wonderful view

There's quite a climb to get here but it's worth it for the view and the ability to visit the adjoining church with the Black Madonna and Christ Child.

The views from this area are fantastic, especially on a clear day. We went up on the funicular but you can also take the steep walk up. Luckily the day we were there, there was only a slight haze, so the panoramic views were something to behold.

This hill is one of the top sight of Lyon which you should not miss. This can be accessed by the hill train F1 or F2 or you can walk from old lyon also. From this hill, you can get the magnificent view of lyon and in summer you can have the opportunity to see the MONT-BLANC mountain from Lyon.... More

From this hill you can see forever on a clear day. Supposedly you can see Mt. Blanc when it is clear. Otherwise you get a good panoramic view of Lyon looking down on the Old Ville and across the penisula to the new built up area of Lyon. This is close to the Basilica so can combine this with a... The funicular ride is the first part of the fun - arriving at the hilltop at the front door of the basilica is the second part. Spend 30 minutes walking around the walled courtyards behind the basilica, nosing around the few shops, snooping into windows of the pricy apartments then go in the basilica for at least an hour visit.... We jumped on the funicular up to the top of Fourviere Hill and walked down back to the old town. It was cheap and a great way to get up quickly and have a leisurely walk down through a beautifully shaded garden. The church was one of the nicest ones we had visited - they can all become a blur... I visited here on a clear November day. I think we must of taken a short cut as we had to climb so many stairs!! But the views at the top were worth it. You can see right down on Lyon and get views along the river.

Got the funicular up from Vieux Lyon station. Just poped up to see the view. It was our last day so fun to spot all the places we had visited throughout the week. Used last ticket from the book of 10 I got for my stay. Traveled on metro into Vieux Lyon station and then got the funicular up to... More

Amazing view, romantic and worth a visit day and night. The little train brings you up and costs 4 euros return. Go to the church and have a coffee in the nearby Fourviere hotel.

Need to relax? Looking for a green area/ parc to go for a walk? Or enjoy a nice overall view from the city of Lyon? Then, is the Fourvière hill a very nice place to go to. Furthermore, close by you have many other options to visit and enjoy yourself: the basilica, the Roman ruins, .... I will strongly recommend... More
