A great place to visit for films buffs - make sure you leave plenty of time to visit.
To any film buff, you must visit this museum. The museum is spread over 6 floors with 12 areas to look at. It starts in the cellar, with an appropriate couple of film sets to observe. Moving up the the levels, your presented with full film sets (some rebuilt by the original film set builders), artefacts from the films and some of the special effects whether body parts or other. On our visit there was quite a lot from star wars along with some stunning sets from Le Parfum. The top floor was dedicated to miniatures. The miniatures were serts in themselves with incredible detail. We arrived only an hour before closing and hadnt realised it was recommended as 1-2 hours visit. It was therefore a rushed visit but well worth it.

    Exquisite miniatures
Undoubtedly it was the exquisite miniaturisations that were the highlight. Beautifully crafted they cover a multitude of segments of life. Grocery and hardware stores, dining rooms and school classrooms were just some of the lovely creations. Before that in the marvellous historic build that is its home are props and sets for many movies and TV series. Mrs Doubtfire, Thelma & Louise, Apollo 13, Breaking Bad and of course Star Wars are illustrated.

    Stunning
It's rare that you go to a museum that's truly different and spectacular at the same time, but this is exactly what this is. You start with visiting various parts of the set of the movie Perfume. Then there are a few floors containing various items used in many popular movies. You finish at the top floor containing lots of absolutely stunning miniatures used in films. Overall a brilliant experience and I'd say this is a must for any movie fans visiting Lyon.

A lot of movie memorabilia on display here, nearly forgot about the miniatures!
The miniatures here are great, and it’s interesting to view them, though as these are at the top of the museum they seem almost an afterthought. Loads of great movie memorabilia, well presented. Everything is in a glass case, so would be nice to have a little variety, but it’s interesting nonetheless. Be prepared to climb stairs!

    Wonderful museum especially the miniatures
In the Vieux Ville area. It is over 5 floors, so lots of steps. Lots of movie props eg Ghostbusters, The Thing etc. The miniatures displays on top floors are amazingly detailed and great for close up photos. A must visit.

    A real, delightful surprise
Really enjoyed our visit here, it’s a fresh take on cinema culture and history depicting lots of the “cheats” they use in producing the cinematic effects that thrill us. The displays gently segue into the use of miniatures in filming large scale special effects (obsolete now with computer graphics) Then on the top floor you’re faced with dozens of beautifully crafted 1/12 scale sets which gradually transcend their craft and become art. 100% recommend a visit here.

    Wow
This took me by surprise. It was far more expensive, interactive and engaging than I anticipated. The models and art work were done really well. A credit to the two staff on the front desk who were engaging at helpful at the time of my visit 11am, (apologies for forgetting your names) but you were helpful, friendly and positive.

Fascinating museum of movies and miniatures
What a delightful museum housed in a charming building in Vieux Lyon! The collection is extensive, varied and interesting. Quite a few props and other materials from recent movies. There are also examples of miniatures are used in movie scenes. Overall a terrific mix of art, technology and film history.

Quirky but fun little museum with plenty of B/C level movie paraphernalia that is still really interesting. They have one room with a ton of Wes Anderson stuff that would make fans go bananas. Also, they have some cool miniatures that are best described as diaramas / sets, but that term does them no justice. Great way to step out of old town and into a little bit of movie weirdness. Do it.

Some of the movie props were interesting with a lot of horror- oriented monsters. This part is best for movie buffs.
The miniature exhibits were very interesting as the artistry and patience is amazing for the amount of detail.

We weren’t sure what to expect once we entered the building.
To our surprise and luck, this museum had so many interesting displays.
Many displays were from props made for movies.
We recognized almost all of them.
From life size silicon masks of real movie stars to silicon animals.
There were also many amazing tiny displays of miniature rooms, stores, and scenes.
Another flip of the coin and we were happy we chose to go in.
