On one side is the museum for decorative arts and the other has fabrics reflecting the silk history of Lyon. Both are stunning. If you enjoy incredible craftsmanship, the decorative arts -- i.e., furniture is displayed and preserved in a period setting. Really lovely.

This is the city of silk and we were so much looking forward to visiting this museum. Located in two old palais however it seems to be a sleeping beauty which needs to be kissed awake! It is not enough to put beautiful old silks...More

Even without explanations in English the exhibited textiles and furniture were so interesting that I was enthralled. The delicacy of the silk work in particular was lovely. I would have liked to understand how the jacquard weavers translated into computers but I can look that...More

Beautiful, even exquisite, displays but very frustrating that all texts are in French and no other language. They are missing an opportunity to explain to the world how these fabulous fabrics came about.

I have given this museum 5/5 because my friend and I were deeply impressed by the designs and quality of the exhibits. However, I do acknowledge that even with our good knowledge of French we did not fully understand many of the labels. Consequently the...More

If you like silks, fashion, materials, haute couture, then this is the museum for you. It is situated in two hotel particuliers and carries you back to the days when Lyon was a great silk manufacturing centre,

First of all a warning: if you don't read French your experience will be limited to an aesthetic one. The captions and explanations are in French only. Still, there are the textiles and, in the Decorative Arts Museum, the furniture and so on. The textiles...More
