Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This fresco located a few minutes walk from Place des Terreaux is worth a little detour. It represents, on the wall of a building, a range of Lyon personalities who have succeeded in their respective professions. A tribute to work and perseverance.
Unfortunately, an illiterate person who was disrespectful of the city's values managed to spray paint the fresco. Ashamed.

On the flat, blind rear of a 6-storey building, 42 windows are suggested, with or without a balcony, on which residents of Lyon are painted as if they were living in this building. And it also seems like there are shops downstairs.
But in Lyon there is also a second and much larger painted wall in trompe l'oeil, namely "Le mur des Canuts".

a great artwork. It is yo good, that it could happened, that you walk by without mentioned it. There are so much details. Some details you see later on a picture. For example: Paul Bocuse oder the litte Prince.

This was a whimsical mural incorporating real historical figures. The scenes captured life like scenes. Totally cool. There are murals all over Lyon. Really cool.

This is a must when in Lyon. It only takes you 30 minutes to see it and admire this work of art. There are some famous people painted on that wall but you need to read about it or be told by someone, like we found out during the canal cruise.

This was another nice piece of art work in Lyon and it featured real historical figures. The building is close to the river. Worth a photo stop.

One of several murals scattered through Lyon, Fresque des Lyonnais is one of the most widely known and features representations of around 25 of Lyon's famous inhabitants from Roman times through to the present day, shown a figures standing in front of the building, on balconies or at windows painted on to a seven storey building

We visited the frescoes in New Town during an excursion on our visit with Viking cruises. The frescoes are very well done and great photo ops, as evidenced by the throng of visitors taking snaps of them on a cold November day. I can't imagine how crazy it must be during the height of the tourist season! I was glad that we had a local guide with us during the visit, as she was able to tell us the name and background of most people pictured in the frescoes. Some you would recognize, others you know by name but not their image, and still others are famous or important French citizens.
To illustrate how well done the frescoes are, I have to relate an incident embarrassing to myself. While viewing them from the street I told my hubby that I was impressed that they had used the existing balconies to paint many of the people behind. That elicited a guffaw from the not-so-better-half (at the moment) and the comment that the balconies were painted. I argued against that, noticing that they were obviously three dimensional and that the shadows they cast on the wall shifted as you moved. OK, so that got a belly laugh from my soon to be ex husband! Amidst his laughter I got closer and shifted positions many times and FINALLY realized that they really are all painted on flat walls! The painting are so well done that they fooled even me, and I am not easily fooled (except when choosing husbands, obviously). This incident of merriment still never fails to gladden my hubby, who is soon to be available for a very low price on eBay. A great site to visit, but not with my hubby, LOL!
