These ruins are a great stop. If you are looking for something to do on a Sunday since most things are closed this is a great little day outing. If you are looking for budget friendly thing to do this is free. The area is just beautiful. There are no tours or audio guides since this is an open air... More

Just outside town in road towards Bad Willdbad. Most impressive is ruin on cloister. Abbey church evangelical so has few details from days as Cluniac church.

Located in a small town this family run hotel was perfect for us to sample the local scenery and attractions Located adjacent to a ruining monastery that is interesting to walk around and close to the park. The pool was a little too cold for my wife but OK for me after a sauna. Room OK but a little basic.... More

My children love this beautiful ruin. You are surrounded by gorgeous views of the Schwarzwald and the ruins are some of the best in the area. Kids can climb around on the walls and run on the grounds. It's peaceful, easy parking and close to the center of Calw for a bite to eat and more sightseeing. The concerts there... More

The monastery must have been incredible before it was ruined, it is incredible in a ruined state. It is lovingly cared for and a beautiful stroll through a lovely little town. I wish I knew more about the reformation, but it must have been a violent, and destructive time.

Well preserved ruined Cloister. Strongly recommend that the visitor read up on the history of Cluniac Reformation in Germany before wandering the grounds to get a better appreciation of the importance of this Hirsau Cloister. If not a history buff, then the quiet setting with the beautiful architecture will be enough to capture your imagination. Worth a visit.

This is a small site but if you're in the area plan to stop by. If your staying in Calw it's a 30 to 40 minute walk from the center. Well worth your time

We found out about Hirsau when we arrived in Calw paying tribute to Herman Hesse. Calw itself is a town worth visiting. Hirsau is 3kms away and the monastery, atop a hill, is easy to spot. Parking is very easy to find. The monastery ruins are beautiful. St Peters and St Paul's is a small church still in use near... More

This site is not only interesting for adults, but also for kids. Ours loved it, to run around, discover and show us things they discovered, with excitement. A must-do if you are nearby.
