The market around the Musterplatz is a treat you will not want to miss. Vendors set up shop around the Munster cathedral and sell cheeses, sausages, flowers, wooden ornaments and more. I felt like I had walked back In time to market in the 1800s....More

This is the main square of Freiburg and is surrounded by lovely buildings. We were there during the Christmas market which was delightful. Around the other side of the church, there was a local market filled with fresh foods and plants. We stopped at one...More

I loved this Christmas market. There were several markets similar to Cologne but not as crowded. The two largest ones were centered around St. Martin and near a bakery. We travelled with a tour group and were provided with a map. This market had a...More

The perfect spot for eating, drinking and listening to the church bells ring. This is exactly what I pictured Germany to be!

Beautiful old square, surrounding the Munster/Cathedral. Has some nice buildings, such as the Merchants' House, and also seems to have a daily market. Though I might be wrong on the daily part. The Munster is a beautiful building, and the square has a great backdrop...More

Don't miss the walk to the Munsterplatz. Visit the cathedral, try the freiburg-style wurst and wander in the open market. Lovely!

The market in the Munsterplatz is a must-see. The buildings surrounding the square are adorable and exactly what you would expect from a Black Forest stop, and the fresh fruits and juices at the market are the best!

Enjoyed the market on the days that exist (all but Sunday, best on Wednesday & Saturday). Good place to pick up a sausage or pastry for your breakfast - but bring your own coffee.

We stayed at Zum Roten Baren, an old guest house on Oberlinden. It was very comfortable there, and very central.
