Access the funicular station from the Kornmarkt, it’s just behind the square. As we entered in, a large bus group had just walked in so the small space was really crowded. Therefore, we opted to use the automated ticket machines rather than go up to the window. There was an English option so it was easy enough, you just need... More

It was well worth the trip to the top. The view was amazing. Apart from a small cafe there is not a lot to do but just enjoy the view.

Worth the additional trip to the top of the mountain - just don't stop at the Castle. This is the second funicular and is definitely worth getting the additional vantage from the higher elevation.

The gradient of the funicular is impressive - especially as it is 125 years old! The best view with a coffee we had all holiday.

This is the top part of the railway. The bottom part takes you to the castle and there you change to the original railway cars These are well maintained wooden carriages that take about 5 mins to reach the top You can stay as long as you want and there is a cafe with a superb view over the city/river... Loved the ride on the railway. First part on the modern version contrasts so well with the second stage on the hundred year old version and its quirky carriages. Some good views at the top. And you can stop off en route to visit the castle too and get more views.

Being Germany, this mode of transport to the castle was quiet, quick and efficient in transporting visitors to its destination. For the most part, it was clean within the ccarriage.

Had been to this Funicular ride from the Castle station on the main road till the top Konigstuhl station. They charged me 12 euro's for the to & fro journey including stop over at Castle station. So would recommend to go top the hill first and come down, especially beneficial during evenings as you have have a better view of... More

We (three brothers) travelled to the top by modern and historical trains. Once on top we had Bier to take in the views and walked back down. All in all it was quality time i.e. great conversation, with good weather, great views and a lot of down hill exercise - wear hiking boots with good ankle support, if you intend... More

Since the castle is 80 metres directly above the city of Heidelberg this is the best way to go and visit the castle. Of course you get excellent views. It is no wonder it operates frequently and is so well patronized.
