A visit to the botanical garden in Karlsruhe is definitely worth it. You can experience and enjoy pure nature on very clean and well-maintained hiking trails. Park benches in the park invite you to linger and relax. A café in the botanical garden takes care of your physical well-being. There are also special display houses in the botanical garden. There is also a small entrance fee to the display houses. A visit to the botanical garden in Karlsruhe is a must when staying in this beautiful city!

Ever wondered how a banana tree looks like? You don’t have to travel to the Tropicals. Just jump into the botanical garden to check out cinamon tree, banana tree and caffé plants.

If you are in Karlsruhe for any reason be it business or pleasure and gave an hour or so to spare , visit these beautifully maintained and spectacular gardens.
We strolled through these large gardens for about 2 hours and were amazed by the amount of many and various flowers in bloom.
For parents with children there are many beautiful open spaces or shaded if necessary for picnics and kids to run around , the bonus for kids is a small train which runs regularly around the majority of the parks and gardens

Very disappointing. As you walk in and to the left there are strips of garden which seem to ring the property. Instead of tall, luxurious plants full of rich green foliage, they have planted little plants which are lost among the dirt. These strips of garden need to be filled in with bold plants. In the garden which runs along the side of the greenhouse, they have weeds planted; including one which my parents had hidden in their lawn and which hurts like hades when you step on it. I didn't find many of the outside plants to be at all exotic. I paid the 3 Euros and went into the greenhouse. There were some unique plants which I had never seen; however, even the cactus was resplendent with a variety of which I had a small one from the garden show as a child. Many of the plants in the greenhouse are species which I have seen in people's outside gardens in the U.S. and in Germany. The 3 large greenhouse rooms are large, yet there were really no botanical surprises. Outside was mediocre run of the mill gardening with which I was far from impressed. My photos confirm my opinion.

To the west of the 'Schloss' are the Botanical Gardens, separated from the 'Schlossplatz' by the modern building of the 'Bunfesverfassungsgericht', while to the north of it is the much bigger 'Schlossgarten'. The open part of the Botanical Gardens is more of a park with water basins, benches, sculptures and flowerbeds, especially beautiful in springtime.
To the west and the north of the open area are several 19th century buildings like the former 'Orangerie', now part of the 'Staatliche Kunsthalle', the 'Schauhäuser', the greenhouses of the Botanical Gardens proper, then the big gate, through which one can go to the adjoining 'Schlossgarten', followed by an arched construction, which now houses a restaurant, the 'Badische Weinstube'.
While the park-like open area is more for relaxation, the three greenhouses, representing different climate zones, are mainly for information. Only for this part one has to pay an entrance fee. There is nobody around, but the visitor is expected to buy a ticket from a vending machine for 3 € (adults), cash only. By the entrance are also toilets.
Moving from one room to the next it gets warmer. It is an old-fashioned glasshouse from the 19th century with a red sandstone wall on one side, with some fountains, sculptures and benches. Non-commercial photography is allowed. Some of the plants have labels with their scientific and German name as well as their origin. Only a few plants - like the coffee tree and the cinnamon - have longer descriptions, but then only in German.

I happened on the Botanical gardens as I wandered the city without a map, they are petite but well laid out - I took the opportunity to take the weight off and enjoy the view and the scents. I recommend taking a slight detour to take these in.

This was a nice place to visit it had just rained on an early sunday morning and the place was deserted. We walked around for about an hour taking in the scenery that was very peaceful and relaxing. There is even a small lake with swans and ducks. The best part is it was free we even parked on the street for free just around the corner from the gardens.

The Botanical Garden in Karlsruhe is right next to the castle and behind the Federal Constitutional Court. It is an oasis of peace and relaxation, the grounds are varied with flowers in various color combinations, trees, paths and lawns. Benches and loungers invite you to relax. Only the greenhouses charge admission.
