Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Nice place to go with the kids, there is a park around and people can sit there with a nice view of the town and enjoy drinks or a picnic. The place is accessible by car or with a small funicular, you can also go over the stairs but I think it is a bit too hard.
The view from the tower is impressing, it is for free to go to the top. Negative point: the stairs are too narrow and I felt a bit dizzy.

From here we took stunning views into the city of Karlsruhe. The tower is located close to Durlach, one of Karlsruhe's best living areas. We celebrated New Year's Eve with locals. It is a tradition every year. Nice place to take sights into the Badische Laendle too.

This is a nice place to view the surrounding area around Karlsrhue, the tram makes it a fun addition to the trip. You can go taking the trolley S1, until the last stop, climb 1 block following signs. Trolley fare one way is $1.90, round trip $2.80. If you decide to walk down, There is a less steep path, if you take the road to the right and follow a hiking trail, a few meters down, but make sure to climb to top of the tower for the magnificent views.

I have been coming to this place for years. There is a nice view and good food. The locals have a new fad. They come up to watch the sunset. Some bring their own drink, but many enjoy the good wines at the restaurant located here.

Take the tram out to Durlach from Karlsruhe. Once there you can see Turmberg castle up on the hill.

Walk towards it through town and you'll come to a tram/gondola that goes up the hill (it costs a few euro) or use google maps to find the long stair trail or streets and walk up to the castle.

The castle is quite impressive! At around 28 meters, dating from around the 1270s. You can get a bite to eat/drink and climb the spiral staircase inside the castle to see the amazing views from the top.

2-5 hours round trip via tram from Karlsruhe, depending on how much exploring you do.

The Turmberg is a large hill (you couldn't really say it is a mountain) at Durlach just outside Karlsruhe. To get there, you need to take the tram to Tullastrasse, then a bus (number 11, I think) to Durlach. There is a funicular railway to take you to the top, where there is a tall mediaeval tower that the energetically minded can climb for a better view. There are also walks round about. It is a pleasant way to spend a morning or afternoon.

This is actually two attractions, because we took a funicular from Durlach to the base of the tower. We found a coupon for this in a brochure and paid 1 euro each for both funicular and tower. There are many steps to the top, so this is not for someone who cannot climb stairs. At the top you can see the Rhine valley for miles and into France.
