The Kunsthalle in Baden-Baden was recently renovated (or at least parts of it were) and the newly opened upper floor had a really fascinating exhibition on when I visited at the end of December. The museum staff was informative and helpful and the museum is a nice place to visit. And it was completely free on Fridays, which was a... More

The building itself it is worth to see. It was built for museum originally, and the halls and rooms are very nicely decorated on the ground floor. They have an excellent cpainting collection! It is a must if you are int Karlsruhe.

i spent an hour and a half here but walked out feeling quite numb...no great art and certainly no warm welcome from disinterested museum staff.

What better to do on a rainy day in a city than visit it´s museums. So here we are on a rainy tuesday morning checking the state art gallery. Unfortunately half of the museum is closed as they are preparing new expostions in the Orangerie part and in the Junge kusthalle, for in two weeks. But this happens... The museum... More

This super building on the edge of the Schloss gardens is actually one of three museums included in your ticket: 1 The main gallery has a reasonable collection of classical art but the highlight is the Thoma Kappelle - which is a rather good wooden creation in the basement. 2 The modern gallery which is in another lovely building (see... The engraving and print gallery section was very interesting but the collection of paintings was incredibly average. Frankly, I expected better!

Beautiful gallery but really poor collection of art..I was expecting much better at the hefty admission fee and walked out feeling really cheated.

The collection itself isn't too bad. On its own it's decent, if not a little repetitive. 12 Euros seemed a little steep though. You WILL need the map/floor plan if you want to see it all. Many of the rooms and wings are connected only by narrow unmarked doors that look like they don't want you to use them. Some... More

I've been to art museums all over world and all of them have cleaning buckets & drop lights but this is the ONLY museum where these items are not in the janitors closet, they are on display as the art. The front desk person also wanted me to leave my cane at the front desk while were trying to pay... More
