Unfortunately you can only get up to the eagles nest at particular times of the year as snow blocks the passage (all amenities fully open, including the cafe, after May). The museum was interesting, but you will have to to hire the english audio gadgets as all the exhibitions are in german. The museum overlooks the valley where hitler and... More

I have visited this place with a friend. as we are both Germans and have been very much informed in school, we do not really see / hear new information's. I believe for foreigner it can be very interesting to get a better understanding what has happened especially in this area.

The allies bombed the Berghaus relentlessly at the end of the war and the Documentation Centre in Obersalzberg is built on the site, so the famous balcony and also the huge window have gone. The Documentation Centre is a "no holds barred" account of Nazism with incredible detail as you wander through the exhibit. It has been very well done... More

An excellent information centre, with a great and harrowing story to tell, it was a nice 30 minute walk from the TURKEN. It is a shame that they demolished the Historic PLATTERHOF... to build this Center, Governmental Historical VANDALISM.....

This attraction provided much historical information concerning Hitler's life & regime. I highly recommend using the audio guide which gives much important information in English since all the information on the displays are in German. There is a movie of Hitler and explanations from historians about his life which is very well done. There are large display boards with all... More

I enjoyed touring the museum and finding out more about the area during WWII. I thought it was laid out well and the displays were interesting and informative. I didnt give it a 5 star rating since the bunkers were closed the day we were there, which was a big disappointment.

The Documentation Obersalzberg is a small museum with a large underground bunker complex and is located about 2 miles east of Berchtesgaden, Germany. This town is in Bavaria and is about 100 miles southeast of Munich and about 17 miles south of Salzburg, Austria. It is easy to visit from Salzburg as a bus runs from the center of Salzburg... More

Very worthwhile presentation, especially at a general overview level for your casual tourist who is not wanting to plunge into the material of what took place in this area related to AH and the 3rd Reich. This is NOT the definitive museum of the 3rd Reich - it's not intended to be so. It's designed to explain what transpired in... More

We left Salzburg in the rain and when we arrived at our destination it was snowing. - this was in May. By the time we have reached the top the snow as 1 ft deep - it was really atmospheric. It was amazing. - the mirrored lift unbelievable, - everything abut it. Just incredible

Went through the museum very quickly. The bunkers were great. Will come back sometime when the Eagles Nest is open and will also visit the site of the Berghof which is very close to here but needs a car. Beautiful valley and mountain views from this museum.
