Walking the streets of Garmisch-Partenkirchen is a treat in itself. Mixed among the young are older residents dressed in traditional Bavarian attire. The merchants are truly friendly, helpful and speak English as they eagerly assist you. The scenery with the mountains and fast flowing streams are a photographer's dream. Conveniently located in the midst of Germany and Austria's most beautiful... More

Even though it wasn't very crowded, my family enjoyed skiing at Ehrwald more, even with more crowds there. The variety of lifts was much better.

We very much enjoy our time here. We've come every year to ski for the past 3 years. We are not good skiers, but our kids have taken lessons every year from the Skischule Garmisch and they are fantastic with the kids. We have had such great experiences with so many of their staff we can't give them enough thanks... More

The water varies from milky green in spring to clear in summer, the river is charicterfull, and varies with ice formations in the winter, to surging waters in the spring, and a gentle babble in the summer. The banks are lined with large boulders in the town, all told, as nice as a river as your ever likely to find

For the price of a ticket I would think it had more to offer. All groomed and not much variety. Plus it bottlenecks to get on both the first lift and the next chair before you can spread out.

This is a great place for a few days skiing. Less than 2 hours from Munich airport and an easy drive it offers a range of slopes that suit all types of skier from beginner to advanced. The on slope mountain restaurants are good and service across the area very good.

It can get really crowded on weekends. My advice is to go on a slow day. The runs are fun - but it can get really busy when the ski days are super busy.

There are w few mountains routes near Garmisch - Garmisch Classic is one of the easiest - you can go there with small children, also even with a buggy or stroller. A lot of amazing viewpoints. All part are quite wide, you can decide if to hike/walk next part or take a lift (bahn). Highly recommended for people who are... More

This part of the town (and the rest of Garmisch-Partenkirchen) is enchanting. The river provides opportunities to see ducks swimming, eating and enjoying life in the middle of a busy town. The buildings are beautiful, historic and well-presevered.
