We took a day trip from Munich to Neuschwanstein Castle. From Munich HBF, we bought a Bayern ticket and took the train to Fussen. The ride to the Fussen station was long but scenic, once at the Fussen station, there are buses right outside the station waiting to take you to the ticket station at Hohenschwangau. The Bayern ticket will... More

Ok, so touring castles is fun. The fun started with our two hour drive to said castles in a stick shift BMW on the autobahn. Next was a European breakfast with said castle in view. And then came the castles. They (Neuschwanstein & Hohenschwangau) were beautiful, inspiring, and right next to each other so you could see both within hours.... More

Came with Greyline Tours was a great Tour. Only problem was climbing at the way up that mountain you need to be in good health. Please eat at the Mueller hotel before hand as it closes later. The horse drawn cart but it's very slow. But enjoyed the walk and the castle was just mesmerising and unforgettable it's a must... More

When we've visited the castle - the bridge was closed...but it was our dream to visit the castle and see it from the bridge where all visitors made their gorgeous photos so you have two ways to go to the bridge - go through the fencing:) as lot of visitors have done or go from the very beginning of the... Schloss Neuschwanstein is one if those must-visit places if you're in the area. We came by train and bus on an organised tour which I understand enabled us to avoid the queue for tickets which can be hours long. The walk up to the castle takes about 20 mins and offers great views. Might be a struggle for elderly or... More

The castle is beautiful inside and outside. There are amny rooms with old wood decorations and furniture. The bed is incredible because you can see the "town" from wood-handmade- on the top of the bed. I love the library too. It is a shame that the tourist is not allowed to take photoes inside. If you go behind the castle... More

Beautiful castle. Make sure you get to Marienbrücke. The hike from the castle back to Fussen is beautiful, definitely worth doing.

When it gets crowded on the Marienbrücke which is probably most of the time, I found it's better to go beyond the bridge and hiked up the ridge on the hillside. You just need to follow the boot worn trail to get to a few of the view point. Make sure you have the right shoes because the loose dirt... More

This is the fairy tale castle everyone talks about. Was there in December...no trams running at that time, so either prepare yourself for a moderately tough uphill hike or you can take a horse drawn carriage part way up. (still need to do another 10 minute hike or so from where the horses drop you off) Tours are about 35... More

Must see if you are in southern Germany. The castle is beautiful and a guided tour is well worth it. The surrounding forests adds to the experience giving a fairy tale feel.
