The Prinzregententheater, located in the upscale part of Bogenhausen, was built in 1900 on the model of the Festival Hall in Bayreuth and was named Luipold after the Prinzregent.
Since 1993, Bayr has been located on the initiative of August Everding. Theaterakademie, the largest training center for stage professions in Germany in the Prinzregentheater.
Due to the wonderful acoustics, the concert evening with Giora Feidmann, clarinet, was a pleasure despite his old age (88 years).

My first trip to Munich to see the Siemens Prize event. Beautiful hall, smaller that I imagined but lovely almost Grecian style lamps round the sides.

Our group of 28 took a tour of the Prinzregententheater before dining in the on-site Gartensaal restaurant and seeing a delightful performance of Haydn's Orlando Paladino. With seating for about 1100, the theater was designed to Richard Wagner's specifications, so every seat has a good view of the stage and can hear the voices and instruments.
Our tour included the basement below the stage, which includes a conductor's music stand that bears the wear marks of one of the first conductors in the Prinzregententheater, Richard Strauss.
The dinner in the Gartensaal was a departure from the usual hearty Bavarian fare, and artfully presented. I had baked trout filets that were quite delicate and my husband had a pasta with chanterelles.
We knew little about Haydn's Orlando Paladino before this performance, which was cleverly updated to a 1950s cinema motif. Surtitles in German and English were welcome and unobtrusive, and allowed us to understand the dialog.

The Prinzregententheater is a versatile and acoustically more than satisfactory 19th-century building, which can be used for opera, concerts, and recitals. We were here tonight for an evening of songs by Brahms, Schumann, Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninov by the bass Guenther Groissböck, owner of a splendid voice. In a Met HD broadcast we saw and heard him as an impressive Baron Ochs. He is just as impressive in person. We loved the performance, which was enhanced by having seats in the second row.

Old-school theater a bit out of town - there's a U-bahn though.

The Prinzregenten theatre is at Prinzregenten Platz which is a station on the U4 U-Bahn line which goes through Odeonplatz and Hauptbahnhof. (Though sometimes after a performance one has to change at MaxWeberPlatz)
The building is unusual as it is unbroken rows in a kind of a amphitheatre shape with separate entrance doors into the auditorium for every few rows. It's not very large at 1,100 or so seats.
Drinks and light snacks are available in a room to the rear left and there seems to be a restaurant beyond .
Tickets for the opera are also obtainable from the main StaatsOper House box office.
The seat numbering is peculiar, alternate numbers seem to be adjacent to each other.

The Prinzregent theatre is a beautiful old building with wall and ceilings features that will make you love the surroundings for the show will see. The stage is small enough to feel cozy yet large enough for good size productions (we watched the Swan Lake Ballet). The first 3 rows of seats at the orchestra floor provide more legroom and the chairs are quite large, yet, no cushion is provided so expect hard wood seat for the period of the presentation.
The theatre is easily accessible via U-bahn (subway) and City Bus.

We were staying in a nearby hotel and discovered that this theatre was within short walking distance from our hotel. We enquired if there was anything on and our receptionist informed us that there was a Christmas Concern on the Monday night before we left for home on the Tuesday.
It was an excellent performance with a group of four very talented ladies playing a variety of instruments, singing, some comedy and just great fun.
We really enjoyed the whole of the concert and also the wonderful ambience of the theatre.
During half time there was the opportunity for refreshments and drinks. Coats were hung up for us and we were given a number.
At the end there seemed to be hundreds of people but the coat hanging was so well organised that we hardly waited any time.
I would recommend this venue should you be in that area.

The theater is nicely located in Munich and stays a place of choice for a nice and romantic evening. The shows I've seen there are great.

We visited several times as part of the Opera Festivals in Munich. The building itself is very nice, even if you don't have a performance, it is worth to visit.

Sorry, I made a mistake: the concert is actually on October, 30th. Anyway, I'd still like to know how I should dress for the occasion...

I have tickets for November 30th, Jüdisches Neujahrskonzert 5777. As I've never been to the Prinzregententheater, I would appreciate if you can give me a tip on how should both of us (me and my wife) be dressed for the occasion.
