We took the lift to the top of the tower and had great views of the city. Only problem was lack of signs when walking back down. We were not the only 'lost souls' looking for the exit.

It is a must to go to the square and look up at the clock and watch it action, everyone likes to see it and it is a very busy area

My husband and I really enjoyed our visit, and especially the Glockenspiel. I could imagine people of my grandmother's generation being excited when they were children, being taken into Marienplatz and seeing the performance as part of a treat - it was quaint and a bit of old-fashioned folk lore that was very sweet. However, looking around the assembled crowd,... More

The first time to visit the new town hall, I wasn't even a teenager yet however the dancing characters at the top of this beautiful building fascinated me and so did the intricate exterior that reflects a great desire my man to create and express beauty. This is where my love for gothic architecture began!

Great building, amazing architecture! Take the lift (and pay the ticket, it is not much 2-3 euros) to see the view from the top.

The area is very nice and pretty, the christmas markets around here were also great and worth a good look. It is worth checking out if you are in the area.

The Christmas market was real Germany with stool upon stool of crafts, beers, food, pretzels and more. A Christmas must!

As other reviewers have indicated, this is the focal point of Munich. The architecture of the Neus Rathaus is stunning, the Glockenspiel plays at 11AM and 12PM all year and at 5PM between Feb. and November. Plus, just visiting provides one with a sense of why people come to visit to appreciate a part of Munich's history.

It is a great scene especially in Christmas and with snow all around. However, even without them it is still a recommended place to visit to admire a super gothic building.

Beautiful building at Marienplatz. It's quite awe-inspiring to try and soak in the detail. Extra special during Christmastime with the market at its foot. Also has the Glockenshpiel in the centre of its tower (a moving, musical clock of sorts which performs at 12pm).
