Can't miss this one since it's in Marienplatz the main plaza. Go up the lookout tower for a great view of Munich. Did this as the sun was setting during Christmas markets. The city squares were beautifully lit up with holiday lights. Only disappointment was that the glockenspiel was not working.

Visited the Christmas market and watched the glockenspiel which was impressive given how old it is. Amazing building and architecture

I love Mu ice and never tire of visiting this part of Munich. So much ambience and a huge variety of eating places and coffee shops as well as retail shops. In December the markets add to the magic. But don't miss the chance to check out the New Yown Hall it yes very beautiful.

You can spend 10 minutes watching the bells and all the moving parts of this show on the wall. There is a large plaza to stand in and enjoy with hundreds of other tourists. Afterward, take the elevator in the tower to the top and view the city. Only costs a few euros and bring your camera.

Go see it. It's amazing. Grand in its stature and very medieval. During winter the Christmas markets are right outside and the clock tower puts on a show at midday for sure but I believe every hour as well!

Striking building with ornate carvings and clock tower Looks impressive lit up at night - particularly at Christmas with adjacent market and huge lit up spruce

Although we went up to the top of the tower and took pictures of the great view from there, the most memorable part of our visit was watching the "tower clock" at noon from the Marienplatz. With all of its moving figures, it is absolutely amazing!

If you do a tour, free walking tour with Sandeman, you learn which buildings survived the bombing in the square. This building is beautiful and it's fun to watch the glockenspiel do it's 8 minute routine, see Mary's Column and frankly just people watch.

The historic Neues Rathaus (New Town Hall) in the center of Munich is a beautiful work of art. Visitors may take an elevator to the observation deck of the central tower for a small fee, which will provide them with a panoramic view of Munich; do this on a clear day. In the basement of this impressive building is the... More
