My place of work was in outer Schwabing, so I had some chance to go around the place. It was pretty quiet apart from the office travel hours. There were some good places for food though, Indian/Thai etc. Advantage - it is well connected on the metro to all places. Found some decent stay options in the locality as well

This area has plenty of shops and cafe's to explore and a market area too. It's got a quite intimate feel to it, although several of the shops and cafes seemed a little empty or closed around 4:30-5pm on a Sat. afternoon which sapped the atmosphere somewhat. I imagine it may be more vibrant around standard mealtimes.

Munich's trendiest neighbourhood just north of the old town, pass the Siegstor. Home to the University campus, the "Walking Man" statue, many trendy cafes and restaurant, and of course, a quick and easy path to Englischer Garten. Enjoyed our stroll there.

Schwabing is full of cafe and interesting shops. It definitely has a university feel. Great place to shop, or to grab a beer

This is a former Bohemian quarters with some expensive homes but still a popular haunt for the tourists & locals especially the young, surrounded as it is by the University & English Garden. It also has the popular main boulevards Lepoldstrasse & Hofenzollernstrasse close by.There are many restaurants, pubs, cafes catering to the young & tourists. The area is well served by good transportation.

To walk along the Leopoldstr. gives you, the typical 'Munich feeling'. Bars, Cafes and a lot of Shops invite you to stay and relax. Just watching the colorful Life of Schwabing.

Great place to go shopping or just to have cup of coffe (I recommend Black Bean!). Full of stores, near English Garden and Siegestor on Leopoldstrasse. There are some homeless people but don´t worry, they´re kind and glad for every euro you give them.
