    Excellent exhibits.
Easy to find. 15 minute walk from the train station. Reasonable entrance fee. Lots of exhibits with explanations. Interaction encouraged. Easily filled 2 hours of looking at amazing jewellry, mummy caskets and friezes from 3 thousand 500 years ago. Interactive personal tablet didn't always function correctly.

    Incredible Egyptian Museum in Munich
The Bavarian Kings really knew what to collect. I was amazed at the artifacts in this museum. Even if you are only slightly interested in Egyptian history you need to visit this museum. It had some truly incredible artifacts. It was really fun and educational. Definitely one of my favorite museums.

    Pleasantly surprised
This museum probably had the best multimedia means of presenting the exhibition. Although the exhibition is not very big, I still spent almost 3 hours there and could've easily spent even more. Also, the ticket was incredibly cheap. I paid 8 euros for me and my 15yo sister (free for kids and teenagers under 18) with audio guides included. Just one thing I think could be improved. After the exhibition, I was eager to learn more about ancient Egypt, and therefore I considered buying a book on it from the museum shop. While everything in the museum was translated into English too, (almost) all the books in the shop were only in German, besides a few that were meant for children. Finding very limited to no books in English is not a new experience in Munich, since I've encountered it in all the museums I've visited here so far.

If you are interested in Ancient Egyptian history, especially from a perspective of its representation in its artistic expression and evolution over millennia,I suspect you will enjoy this museum. It consists of many relics that reflect the changes in style, often due to external and political influence. I could happily have spent hours there ( kids and partners might prefer a shorter visit!). It is a big collection.

The collection is smaller than I expected and lacking in any spectacular or truly memorable items.

It's fine if you have a couple of hours to kill and it's inexpensive (7 euros) but there are much better museums and historic sights in Munich, if your time is limited.

The entire museum is underground and it's easy to miss the entrance, depending on the direction you arrive from.

I have never been in a museum before where I have felt like people weren’t welcome. We had three children with us aged 4, 7 and 9. They were reasonably well behaved and certainly not running around or screaming. They were asking sensible questions and keen to learn but during our time there we were told off for:

Walking the wrong way around the exhibition (adults not kids).

Standing too close to an exhibit (adults not kids). Put a rope around it if we’re too close!

The children were leaning on the interactive table top screens so they could see, apparently this isn’t allowed.

Having the 4 year old on my shoulders because we had just been told off for standing too close again!

The artefacts are amazing but honestly we felt like they really didn’t want us there.

Also the audio guides for kids only come in German but adult ones came in multiple languages

The deutsches museum however is amazing and we’ll worth a visit.

We really enjoyed our time here. The exhibits are well displayed and well organized. The didactics are in English and do a good job of explaining what you are seeing. The displays are tasteful. The museum staff were very helpful. You have to leave bags in a locker but you do get the 1 euro back.

I thought this was a great exhibit. Make sure you get the headphones, adds a lot to your experience (although they work a little quirky). Spent two hours there
