I’m not really a fan of Modern Art museums, but since admission is only 1 Euro on the first Sunday of the month, and we were already in the area to see the Alte and the Neue, we figured might as well check this one out as well. It’s your typical contemporary art museum (some Warhols, some modern art installation).... More

While I am not usually drawn to modern art collections, this display of modern art provided a great break from antiquities viewed at other historic sites and palaces. Especially enjoyed the Murano glass exhibit displayed on the upper level balcony.

All the stars are here from the past couple of centuries, and when we visited an exhibition of Murano glass. The building itself is worth a look on its own. Recommended.

Decided to visit the museums on a Sunday in Munich, and went here first. Fantastic exhibition on African architecture, excellent Design classics area and great jewellry exhibition. The more "traditional" modern art had some excellent examples by Picasso, Dali, Klimt, Magritte and many others. The museum building itslef is also fantastic. Only problem we needed a rest and a coffee... More

Car design is an art. You will realize when you look at the Tatra 87, the legendary streamliner made in Czechoslovakia in 1938. Apart from that amazing auto and some others you will see wonderful examples of modern graphic and industrial design: bicycles, furniture, dishes, appliances. Altogether about 100.000 items.

The design or the museum is...non-sense...just like modern art... You get pretty lost and you are not sure if you already saw some parts, etc... The art is 100% modern, REALLY modern. If you enjoy watching a side walk (for real) with nothing particular but that is called "modern art" you will love!

If you are a lover of modern art you may rate this higher. I'm not but my husband is. The museum is a gorgeous modern building and has some excellent works. It's in a museum district so you can can make a day of it and visit 3 or 4 galleries in the area.

Visited on Sunday with the family. Only 1 euro per adult entrance and the kids entered for free. Could spend hours there, great artwork and very friendly staff. A must when visiting Munich.

This is a modern building and art itself. The best part of the design department are the modern cars from 1900's , e.g. silver Tatra from 1937. The photograhy exhibition Distant Realities is really worth of seeing.

The Pinakothek der Moderne is my favorite museum in Munich. It contains for instance the architecture museum of the TUM, which has changing architecture exhibitions, which are always very interesting! The other changing exhibitions about modern art are always very impressive too! The building itself is very monumental and impressive. I totally recommend visiting it. Students get a discount at...
