A taste of the Bavarian aristocracy's lifestyle

Grand rooms with lovely furnishings although most furniture was of the period rather than germane to the Residenz. Great place to wander about on a weekend afternoon.

This museum is really amazing, and includes an excellent audio guide as part of the admission fee. Impressive how they were able to reconstruct so much of the palace which had been destroyed or damaged by WW2 bombing. While the audio guide is very informative, it's almost too detailed, and you'd spend many hours if you listen to it all... More

Incredible residence of former bishops and princes. Magnificent history, art and architecture. It's an enormous place with so much to see. Bought a ticket to access everything so we could take a break to eat and continue visiting. The theatre in the Residenz is exquisite and a must see.

The Residence takes longer to go through than you expect. Lots of the furniture in the rooms are not original or from the time period and after awhile the rooms start to resemble each other. However there are a few that will take your breath away. The Treasury side has 10 rooms and I almost enjoyed that more. Seeing the... More

A great place to visit, well presented and good audio guide included in price. You can only buy tickets with cash or Maestro...no VISA...imagine that! The staff very officious and unnecessarily so. You have to leave even ordinary handbags in the cloakroom and they give you a plastic bag for valuables...there aren't nearly enough staff to cope with the system...or... More

The first destination on our first full day in Munich was the Munich Residenz, the former royal palace of the House of Wittelsbach. The rooms in this palace seem to go on forever and ever and contain period furniture, paintings, tapestries, sculptures, clocks, and various works of art. This is an impressive museum and one that should not be missed... More

What an amazing place to visit. Plan to spend 3 - 4 hours here, if you want to soak in the history and splendor. Ticket prices are very reasonable. 11 Euros if you buy the Residenz and Treasury tickets together. They are 7 Euros each if paid separately.

How is this place not near the very top on things to do in Munich. Only 7euro to enter or 11euro if combined with the Treasury. And you get a free audio guide! Not quite as nice as Versailles but really only a few small steps behind. The opulence of some of the rooms was amazing. You could easily spend... More

Both me and my companion got terrible allergies, watery eyes, and sneezing visiting this place. If you are into dusty furniture and a never ending array of bedrooms and corridors, go for it. Otherwise, stay outside and get some fresh air. They have a long tour and a short tour, and even if we intended to do the long version,... More
