OMG Allow plenty of time to really enjoy this palace

This is amazing architecture and tells the story of the city as well as how it was affected by WWII. Allow plenty of time to really enjoy this wonderful palace.

The Residence has some interesting aspects, though as much of the building took heavy damage and loss during the War, we felt that on the whole it lacked some of that historical character you'd have perhaps expected from a 'Historical' site. On a very cold, icy, wintery day though, visiting was a pleasant way to pass a couple of hours.... More

I had wanted to come here for a long time but, honestly, there were only a few highlights for me inside. When entering the Residence, it was WOW at first sight with the ceremonial hall. This was the room that made me want to come. It was beautiful with painted wall & ceiling. There were not many people around at... More

We visited the Munich Residence in the winter. Much of the residence had been destroyed during the war, so there were a lot of replicas in place. In many rooms, they used furniture from other locations. If you're in the area, you can make it through in a couple hours and should definitely see it, but don't make a special... More

Since I'm a history buff I'm naturally drawn to the palace of the olden days' Bavarian kings. The entire complex is so fascinating I could've spent days there if not for my schedule. It's definitely a place not to be missed. One especially commendable aspect of the museum is that you're provided with a portable audio guide, which you can... More

Went to visit the Munich residenz as a couple. It is not usually our thing but was so glad we went. Every room is spectacular and there is so much to look at. Buy a combined ticket and go to the treasury for an extra €4. Didn't think this justified it's own €7 entry fee

We spent 4 1/2 hours touring the residence.. so much to see.. so much history! I thought we would get bored.. not a chance! It really felt like we were only in there for 1 1/2! Just a beautiful place, worth the time!

A great tour around the royal palace. Very well preserved with some very beautifully decorated rooms. 2-3 hours.

The museum housed many furniture and artifacts from the beginning of Bavarian history. Most of them are restoration as they were destroyed during wars. The interior designs on the ceiling and walls were fascinating, very luxurious and different depending on the era. Must rent the audio to hear the historic facts. Take about 1.5 to 2 hours to finish the... More

We only had few hours in Munich and very happy to have come here. There is a lot of history within the museum, the palace is enormous on the inside and the audio guides are great. Lots of large rooms, halls covered with art works and furniture reflecting the times. Since we didn't have much time we kind of had... More
