This is the Bavarian State Collection of Pre- and Early history. It covers the period from the stone age to the early Middle ages. Currently only the section dealing with the Roman Empire in Bavaria is open. Other sections on Neolithic, Celtic, etc. are closed...More

When I was there they had a special exhibit for ‘Ötzi’, the ice mummy, that was quite good, although the exhibits were replicas. The guide looking after the exhibit was very passionate. As far as this permanent exhibits go, I was disappointed with the emphasis...More

We visited this museum when there were two interesting temporary exhibitions. One was about Otzi - the iceman, and the other one was an inka mummy. That was exciting! The permanent exhibition was also great for those who love the roman history and who love...More

This is a museum a wonderful museum for someone with good knowledge of Greek and Roman artifacts. There are some English explanations but more are required. The architecture of the building is very appropriate for the artifacts and we enjoyed our walk about. There is...More

Not only almost No English explanations but no explanations at all in this ridiculously small museum with a lot of replicas and no original items. And it cost 6 euros even on Sundays. A joke

Unfortunately the pre-history and medieval sections were closed. Thankfully there were three rooms of Roman finds of good quality. There is a current exhibition on the Thirty Years War from 1616 to 1636, which was interesting but not what we paid to see.

We went here somewhat randomly while in Munich. They have a lot of very old and neat artifacts but all of the tags are in German so were basically just strolled though quickly. It was really cheap however so probably worth the couple of euros...More

Only the Roman artifacts were available for viewing when we were there which is why they charged us only 2 euros to get in. I'm sure the Prehistoric and Middle Ages exhibits are equally as worthwhile. The museum is not that huge but feels spacious,...More

I went to the archeology museum as a former student of anthropology. The exhibit was on the luxury and decadence of early Romans, most prominently featuring Pompeii. It is clear that the focus of the museum changes fairly frequently from its overall set-up. The entrance...More
