The Max-Joseph-Platz is one of the stops on the hop on hop off tour, just after the Marienplatz stop. I stopped and spent some time here, because I enjoy being surrounded by old buildings and architecture. I sat on the steps of the National Theatre...More

This is a very busy and lively square as it is in the intersection of the Residence, Opera House and Maximilian Street. So many things to see and lots of ‘action’ in this area.

From Marienplatz to Max-JHoseph-Platz, a 5 minutes walk. Night and day it is worth. The city opera is located there.

OK, perhaps not the only one but I love this square as it contains the historic Residenz, the Opera House, and some bars and restaurants. Close to lots of shops and it has underground parking. A must see if you are new to the City.

We walked through here on an afternoon of random wandering. It is a large square built in 1818 named for Bavaria's first King Maximilian 1. A statue of him in a seated position is in the centre and the square is ringed by the National...More

This is my favourite spot in Munich where you get the opportunity to look around and enjoy the sights of old Munich. The statue of King Max Joseph, a Bavarian legend and the National Theatre are the main attractions. There is also the old post...More
