I don't generally recommend sculptures, fountains, etc., but the Ehekarussel is really something special & over-the-top. I recommend starting with your back to the U-Bahn exit and walking around slowly counterclockwise. One forewarning: there are some pretty morbid parts to this fountain so those with...More

Worth a look at as you walk around the old city centre. This is however in one of the more modern parts just inside the city walls. The story of love and “decay”.

This is an interesting sculpture in Nurnberg. Not my favorite but worth a look at for its different views of marriage through the years. You really have to look closely at all the different characters in it. Nurnberg has a lot of great sculpture though...More

We did not like the sculpture of this fountain. If this is supposed to represent married life than obviously the sculptor did not have a good experience(s).

The fountain at Breitscheidplatz in Berlin has always been my favourite but now I found a new one. This fountain/sculpture ensemble is fantastic. Beautiful love in youth is mixed with terrible figures later in life, marriage full of conflict and finally old age.

Sited right beside the Weisser Turm, this large, humorous bronze sculpture gives a grim representation of the trials of marriage. Wonderful

My family and I stopped at many fountains and statues in Nuremberg, and this was my favorite. It was our 30th wedding anniversary, and I got a kick out of this Marriage Carousel. There was a lot to look at, and the humor in it...More

Pass the imposing White Tower (See My Review) and you arrive at this bizarre fountain called Ehekarussell, the "Marriage Carousel." Created by Hans Sach in 1571, this surreal gem depicts man and animal depicting various aspects of married life. Rather creepy, yet it is hard...More
