Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Hauptmarkt ist the most central place in town. Best time to visit is when there is some kind of market actually going, be it the famous Christmas market in December or also one of the markets connected to the many festivals in town. On any other day, there are plenty of food stalls for fruit, vegetables and the like.
The square is surrounded, partially, be some lovely medieval buildings and churches. You can walk to pretty much any place in the old city center from here within a short notice.
Not recommended: to eat in a place in the immediate vicinity of the square. Most of those places are of the tourist trap variety.

I experience the characterful Nurberg once you enter the city from afar. The beautiful architecture is unique here at every street we walked.
The Christmas market just outside main train station is so alive and the snow just adds to the christmas-ty vibe. We grab hot coffee at one of the cosy cafe 12 here and people are so friendly. Not only here, as walk toward the town square, there were more Christmas market stalls as far as we could see. Definitely a great place to feel the Christmas mood during this festive. 👍🏻

The Market Square is one of the largest and most important in the historic center of Nuremberg. Used to host markets of various kinds, including the famous and picturesque Christmas markets, it is somewhat of the fulcrum of city life. The square is surrounded by numerous historic buildings, the church of Our Lady also overlooks it with its ancient carillon and on the opposite side the imposing and highly decorated Fontana Bella is visible. Fulcrum of the visit to the city.

Beautiful square overlooked by several magnificent buildings and the Frauenkirche church. Noteworthy is the Schoner fountain. It would be nice if the Christmas market continued until the first days of January, instead of seeing the workers dismantling the wooden houses typical of the Christmas market.

The square is located in front of the Church of Our Lady and the Schoner Brunnen is on one side. It is one of the pictures that you see of Nurenberg.
We stopped by just after Christmas so they were dismantling the Christmas market. Because of that, we weren't able to look around the area too much.

If you're in Nuremberg for any period of time you'll become very familiar with old square at the heart of the old town. There always seems to be a market of some kind going on, the mechanical clock on the church to listen to, the wondrous 'beautiful' fountain' and much else besides. A great place to gravitate to late in the day and have an aperol spritz while watching all the (other!) tourists.

It was really interesting to see a market from this area of Europe rather than the ones at home. It was extremely different and fascinating to see the different products and produce on sale.
The fresh fruit and vegetables particularly were amazing. If only we could get these back in the UK! Such a huge range of produce and all of it looked fresh and delicious.
And all this with the surroundings of the beautiful buildings you associate with Nurenberg. You are never far from bars and restaurants either so don’t need to go short of something to eat or drink should your shopping take its toll!

We visited Nuremberg for a day and called into this market.
This market is quite large.
Lots of gift souvenir kitchen utensil stalls, German sausages of course, and other prepared food as well, beer and wine and fresh produce.
You can easily spend a few enjoyable hours here.
Well worth visiting.

This is a good size market with a variety of interesting stalls. The square is attractive with plenty to see and some nice architecture. The shops here are good quality too we were tempted on a few occasions.
There are plenty of places to eat and drink too and this gives the square a vibrant atmosphere. Easy to walk around and a nice blend of locals and tourists.

Lots of stalls with fresh fruit and vegetables, located near a few bridges which cross the Pegnitz River on Konigstrasse. Nearby is the golden Beautiful Fountain. Didn't see too many souvenirs here. Ice cream and gelato are everywhere.

Will it be opened on the 6th of January?
How does it usually look like at the beginning of January? Still with Christmas decorations, or everything is removed?
Thank you.

I was not there in January and I do not know how everything works there.Thank you.

Is this open on Tuesdays? Thanks.

Hi, I will be in Nuremberg on Sunday, 4th Sep 2017 and will be staying at the Adina Apartment Hotel. Will the Hauptmarkt stalls/shops be open on Sundays? If they are all closed on Sundays than where would be the best place to shop and sightsee at the same time?
Written 23 May 2017
Hello when we visited only some stalls were open on the Sunday. Mainly craft stalls. Only a few. Saturday is the main day. You could contact tourist information because there are different events on during the year.

Hi.
Is this market easy to find? Is it located in the Nuremburg city?
Thank you very much.
Written 18 February 2016
As others have written, it is right in the middle of the city. Its in a square at the foot of the hill with the castle on top of it.
