Park

Park is compact but well kept, some lovely views and unusual sights from the perimeter walls. Good multi language information boards.

I imagine this place looks much better in summer, probably beginning of June when the roses are in blossom. It is situated on top of the hill, so you have a breathtaking view over the nature outside of the walls of the old town, but also on a part of the old town itself.

Entering the Castle gardens is such a change from the busy, tourist filled streets of the town. The gardens were much larger than I expected (or remembered) and are very well maintained even in the winter months. I recommend going to the far end of the garden that juts out over the valley and offers spectacular views. You can even... More

Located just outside the wall is a lovely find. Look off one side and you see the countryside. On the other you get a great picture of the wall and interior city. Nothing is in bloom this time of year but there are benches on which to sit and relax. There are also bathrooms located here.

Located on the periphery of the wall, go through an old gate to access the Burggarten. A nice place to stroll and relax and get some quiet time. A perfect balance of nature inside Rothenburg. Get a nice view of the valley from the garden. Nice place for photographing nature. Big chestnut tree along the pathwalk.

This is a great garden area to take a leisurely walk. Often there will be someone playing music in the garden and you can just relax on a bench and listen. Be sure to check out the gardener's cottage.

We loved this garden. Go through the castle gate to find it. It was pretty and things were still blooming even though we were there in late September. We popped into one of the buildings and the walls had frescoes on them. Surprising. The views are good from the garden. You can see down into the valley. You can see... More

The Burggarten is a peaceful and beautiful oasis only a stone's throw from the Old Town. The park itself is beautiful, with many gardens, statues and pathways, and there are plenty of opportunities to take pictures of Rothenberg. A great rest stop.
