About
The Wall Museum Berlin is located just next to the famous East Side Gallery Berlin - the last remaining piece of the Berlin Wall in the city centre of Berlin. The innovative multimedia Wall Museum presents Berlin’s recent history in a unique and enthralling way. From the beginning of the Cold War in 1945 until Reunification and via the dramatic building of the Berlin Wall in 1961, history is brought to life in 13 themed rooms using various original film documents and interviews. It is a must for all who want to discover the truth behind the Wall and how it changed this exceptional city. Walking along the East Side Gallery after visiting the Wall Museum gives you a completly new look at this monument and the art it shows.

On their website, it says last admission is at 6:30 pm. We arrived at 6:20 and were denied admission. We walked 25 mins to get there and as a tourist, it’s kind of inconvenient to tell someone to come back the next day when they might not have another day to do so. We are very quick and could have seen it all super fast considering the place closed at 7 pm. Really unfortunate!!!

The museum is a bit of a commercial rip off. You are much better off seeing the German History Museum and the Berlin War Memorial on the other side of town. The Museum at the Berlin War Memorial is free also. Don't be tricked into purchasing these tickets- this museum is near the East Side Gallery.

This is definitely one of the best things to do in Berlin if you have time. There is an amazing and huge history that you can clearly check on the walls and in videos. The wall album memorial is also something amazing. Entrance is subject to fee but totally worth it.

The Wall Museum has many photos and videos from when the Berlin Wall was constructed to when it was taken down. It’s all on one floor and the flow of the museum is good. I feel the price was a bit much for what it is but was still a good visit

The museum is different from the East Side Gallery...I see a lot of pictures of the East Side Gallery here...which is right next door...but they are two different attractions.
When I approached museum, there was a guy with flyers trying to convince the tourists to go to the museum. That was the first warning. The museum was located above what appeared to be a pirate-themed restaurant. That was the second warning. I had to go up 4 flights up a narrow and shabby stairwell to get to the entrance...third warning.
Now for the museum itself...I love history and I love museums and visited many while in Berlin...but this is a strange one. Basically, it consists of a series of small rooms (the size of a typical apartment living room) with screens playing videos. There were maybe 4-5 manikins (I mean like the one you find in a department store) wearing uniforms. There was one small room that was suppose to represent a living room during the 60'-'70s...looked like a few pieces of furniture from a flea market...that was the extend of the "exhibits."
Each room was separated by shabby curtains. It took me maybe less than 5 minutes to go through the whole place. I could have learned a lot more from watching videos on YouTube...
I am quite surprised by the relatively high ratings here....this might be an instance of people confusing the subject matter (a very sad and heavy part of German history) with what is basically a tourist trap...had to pay over 10 Euros....with a discount for bringing in the flyer that I got from the guy downstairs.

No original content to call this a museum. Mostly TV screens showing TV clips and content that is available on the Net and mannequins wearing not too authentic military uniforms. Ticket price is expensive and experience does not justify the expenditure. You are better off visiting the museum island where you get to see visit 5 museums for combined ticket price less than the Berlin Wall museum.

This museum is great! It’s informative and done using multi media making it a really immersive experience. It was great to have a mix of film, photos & reading to get a good understanding of the history of the wall. Definitely worth a visit!

I don't understand the previous bad reviews - the rooms weren't noisy and the tvs were on silent and people had to use headphones or read subtitles. There were no strobes when we visited. The rooms were hot though. The displays are very interesting, and yes, you have to read a bit, but there are also lots of stories told by people who lived through the time - some very sad stories which made us think. Some of these stories will stay with me forever. Highly recommended.

Museum is small but has so much video and pictorial evidence from the time preceding, during and after the Berlin Wall fell. This is a great way to learn the history. Tickets are €12.50 but make sure you speak with one of the guys advertising the museum outside, we did and he gave us a discount to €5, you will need to tell them at the ticket desk. This was a promotional Easter rate, so might not be available all the time but worth a try. Staff are friendly but this is a self guided tour, you have to wait to enter certain rooms as the video is on a loop, not more than a few minutes though. Highly recommended.

The museum isn’t really worth it. Is even more expensive than some of the museums from the Museums Island! It consists mostly on videos that you can easily find on the internet…
It is also not so tourist friendly since there’s no audio guides for people from other countries. Even some of the texts are only in german.. Considering the museum is beside the Wall they should consider having more languages available…
The elevator is only for staff use. For some disabled people it’s difficult to get upstairs like it was in our case.
The only good thing was the staff that was super friendly and polite.
