Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Trying to get from the Hauptbahnhof to U-Bahn Stadtmitte, I made the mistake of going via Bahnhof Friedrichstrasse. Big mistake. The layout of the station is confusing, and I had a hard time finding the subway I wanted to take. Afterwards I discovered should have gone via U-Bahn Unter den Linden.

I learned after a few days in Berlin that the Berlin Friedrichstraß is the major train station in town and I did not realize that the tour bus took to back and forth around the station. The station itself is located smack in the city and is close to so many langmarks and good restaurants and pub. I know that I will find my way to stay near this train station the next trip in Berlin. The historical point of the station is, it was the crossing gate between east and west berlin and train going to other Western area of Europe. The checking point next to the station is the museum called Palace of Tears. Currently it is a major hub of transportation in Berlin with shops and restaurants open even on holidays. Along the bank of the rivers on bothsides are Berlin boat tours and good looking restaurants. Great place to be.

This is a major station in Berlin….it has restaurants, shops and even a full on grocery store. I found it very convenient and easy to use. It can have you anywhere in the city very quickly. Also – if you are there on a holiday or something when everything is closed, the shops and places in the station are open….including the grocery store which sells beer and alcohol….critical on a holiday!!!

Picturesque leftover from separation times, industrial utilitarian style building, equipped with conveniences like an Edeka market, a Macdonalds and a Haferkater oatmeal take away shop, yummy.

Very large and a bit confusing. Nice cars. First class has good, basic food. Offer limited drinks and coffee. BEWARE-when purchasing rail ticket be sure to obtain your reserved seat. If not nasty train gals will not tell you right information. The younger, sweet lady was very helpful and spoke perfect English

This is a massive structure and beautiful in it's own gargantuan way. It is a hub through which the trains, trams and underground pass, and buses stop outside. A maze of a place to navigate, and that's the problem. In every European city I have travelled you can find similar transport hubs and they are in the main well signed and easy to navigate your way around from train to tube to tram to bus. But not so this one. The links between each of the various transport options are not at all well signed, in fact I found myself exiting the train and having to follow the exit signs and walk outside the station complex and read the signs at the entrance to find out where the intersections were and how to find my way to the next platform link. To be fair it's a relatively minor criticism, but a massive disadvantage when you have planned a journey and suddenly find yourself walking around the place in a bit of a maze. and running out of time. That's when the panic sets in, and with a little more forethought by the designers it could so easily have been avoided. No problem now of course, once you have found your way around it's a piece of cake whenever you return!

One of the best pre-war stations (at least the façade) in Berlin. This station serves the S and U bahns as well as regional trains. Clean 1 Euro bathrooms.

Besides being one of Berlin's busiest train stations,Berlin Friedrichstraße Station is also one of it's most famous.
It's a Landmark station, looks cool, an iconic station ,great Sbahn and Ubahn links ,lots of shops and fast food outlets in the station and the stations location is awesome, great sites all close by,theres a very poignant memorial to the children transported to the concentration camps called Kindertransport Memorial at the exit of the train station, a superb and well detailed set of statues .
A great station, well worth checking out if your in the area.

More escalators than lifts but well laid out and well signed. Wish the maps of SBahns and UBahns had bigger type setting but this is a quibble.

Various Apps not a patch on London. It trains are clean, run on time and it feels a safe experience.

When I arrived here in 1982, it was the defacto border between East and West Berlin, where you showed your passport to the fierce East German border guards and exchanged your West Marks 1:1 for practically worthless East Marks. Today this is a buzzing central transport interchange, right next to my swanky hotel. The contrast is beautiful.
