I am really disappointed with Viking's Customer service, which praises themselves to be have been voted one of the best cruises lines. First of all, we had a very bad experience in our second Viking cruise , this time in Portugal, April 2016. The Vessel never sailed because of the high tide. The cruise director kept saying that maybe next... More

We had previously been on a fabulous river cruise with Viking to the Danube, with that in mind we booked the Rhine tour over Christmas with an extension to Lucerne for New Year. On our previous trip to the Danube the administration was perfect and well presented, not so on this trip. I had to constantly ask for information and... More

Beware, the brochure is not the cruise. We spent a lot of time on tour buses, not stopping ported in the town we were visiting, like the brochure depicts. You get one free excursion a day and if you don't take that you stay on the boat as it goes thru the lock system all day. The food is very... More

Good, but not exceptional. And way OVERPRICED!! Ship has been refurbished, but it still has signs of age since there are obviously somethings that are not easily replaced -- like windows. Ship was parked on the other side of Chicago and the cheapest fare to get to the port was $95. Had to go through an old shipyard to get... More

This was our first river cruise and as a result, our last. Despite choosing Classic Promenade cabins - the most expensive we're told, they were in fact small, claustrophobic rooms, with twin 'bunk style' fold away beds which were very hard with only a small lightweight quilt and one pillow. The beds were folded away for the daytime leaving narrow... More

My husband and I took the Grand Circle Danube Christmas Market cruise this season. This cruise is geared toward seniors however we ( in our 40's) had a great time and there were people of many ages on the trip. The price was excellent and the boat absolutely lovely. It was clean, the service impeccable, food unbelievable and the activity... More

Overall this was a great cruise. Most of the staff incredibly attentive, if not entirely warm. The front desk manager was definitely not warm. Maybe it was a language barrier, but I always felt like he did not quite get me. Actually...I'm sure he didn't! Probably a great guy underneath...he just needs to lighten up! Housekeeping was awesome (thank you... More

We have previously traveled on large ships so taking a river cruise is very very differen experiencet. The boat is very simple in its decor. The rooms are small, the beds have little support and as you travel through 26 locks there is plenty of constant noise. There is a light around the base of the bathroom which is constantly... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
