Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I joined the Tour with a friend of mine. We both love the music of David Bowie, Depeche Mode and U2. Thilo has a wealth of anecdotes from the recording sessions of their legendary albums. You could almost feel you were part of the crew… Thilo is a local who knows Berlin history as he is a true Berliner himself. Through his knowledge of the place when the wall was still there you get a sense for why these artists were drawn to this place and how it nurtured their creativity to make their outstanding albums. The tour took almost 3 hours and was worth every cent.

The Hansa tour was excellent! Standing in the studio that Bowie & Iggy once stood in where they recorded music was a surreal experience. Thilo was very confident & knowledge. His enthusiasm for the studio & the musicians who recorded there was infectious. Thank you for the anecdotes, list of documentaries I can watch & the music sampling in the control room. Also, I have a new found love for Depeche mode. Take care ✌️

Like lots of us, Hansa Studio's golden years are (probably) long gone.
But our guide, Thilo, breathes life into the venue; Berlin; and the artists' behaviours in such a rich and rewarding way; opening up ad hoc conversations and expressing thoughts like a passionate teen but with a wealth of knowledge and a great, uplifting, inclusive spirit.
He also led our tour for 2+ hours and I felt like he would have talked as long as we wished.
Loved chatting about Einsturzende Neubauten's explosive antics, Visconti's indiscretion and the fall of the wall. I would 100% do this tour again. Thanks Thilo

Thilo is a fabulous guide. Thoroughly enjoyed our tour of Hansa Studios on a recent visit to Berlin. His enthusiasm is infectious and his knowledge brings the history of the studios to life. To be able to stand in the footsteps of musical heroes was a dream come true. Thank you Thilo and we're so grateful to have been in Berlin at a time when you were able to organise a tour! Excellent value for money and highly recommended to any music fan! Steph & Paul

The Hansa Studio Tour with Thilo is truly outstanding! His knowledge is so immense and he delivers it with so much passion for the music, the artists, the studio and the history. Even if you’re not a super fan it’s still a thoroughly interesting experience. Just getting to hear some of the music played back in the control room was spine-tingling.

Thilo was a great guide. Full of humour and stories about Hansa’s great history. Scheduled for 2 hours we spent nearly 3 there was so much to cover. Playing classic tracks through the recording desk and hearing them over the great monitors was a fantastic experience. Thoroughly recommended.

Thilo takes you into the world of artists with great enthusiasm, competence and wealth of detail. It's great to have been to the places where great songs in the history of pop music were made. To fully enjoy the experience you need a good understanding of the English language.

A fascinating, riveting and knowledgeable tour passionately presented which gives you a true insight into a part of contemporary music history. Thilo the tour guide was so informative and passionate about the subject, and as a huge U2 and Bowie fan, it was an excellent and also an emotional experience. Just superb. And really nice and interesting chatting with like minded fellow music fans, some of whom were in the music industry. I couldn’t recommend it highly enough. It made our Berlin weekend. My son (aged 28) loved it too.

The guide was very well informed and as a result offered a very thorough and extensive explanation of everything that was required.

We had the Hansa Studio Tour and it was worth every penny. Thilo has a vivid way of telling and has a passion for this studio. The Meistersaal comes alive when he is there. Very interesting facts about hte studio, the neighbourhood and the musicians who made iconic records there such as Bowie, Pop, Depeche Mode, U2...

Yes, as above - the more people on the tour, the less the price is. Bargain like mad! You can book a long time ahead, if you wish. It doesn't go ahead all days, so pick a day that falls within your trip. Well worth it. Thilo Schmied is a great guide.

Buongiorno. Se non riesco a far coincidere le date del mio viaggio con quelle del tour è possibile entrare lo stesso? C’è una biglietteria?

Hi,
I'm looking to book the Bowie walking tour in Berlin, I was just wondering if you also walk around with other people/groups on the tour, as this will be a solo visit for me, I would like to be part of a group.
Thanks,
Lucy

Hi Lucy
Philip will only run the tour if there are at least 7 people. We met people from all over the world! All big Bowie fans.
I highly recommend this Bowie tour. It was very cool. Say hello to Philip for me!

How far do you think the Berlin music walking tour was? My wife and I are visiting Berlin on Friday for the weekend and would love to do this but she had a stroke and struggles to walk a long way without resting periodically.
So Sorry for this superlate answer - I had no access here, don't know why... I hope you had a good time in Berlin! :) All the best, Thilo

Hi , you can book tours from Music Tours website, under Tickets Menu.
As other people also wrote here below, I'm not sure that a combined Bowie + U2 tour exists, but you can always ask the organizers, they are kind and helpful.
Enjoy your stay in Berlin!

is it possible for the tourists to go inside the studio?

If you do the Hansa studio tour you do get to go inside. We didn't on the Bowie tour as they were recording in the studio at that time

Hi My partner and I are planning to do the Bowie Walk tour when either Saturday 6th or Sunday 7th. Would love to know more about that it covers (btw, we are coming over from England) Many thanks Steve and Debbie

We did this walk in May and absolutely loved it! It puts Bowie's work in the context of Germany history at the time he was living there - so you get two tours rolled into one really; Bowie and Berlin Wall. You get to see the studios where he recorded some of his most famous songs (if you're lucky, you get to go inside, but depends if it's booked for recording on the day), the place he lived in Berlin, and at the end, you get to have a beer in the bar Bowie and Iggy Pop drank in - v cool! It's quite a long tour so have a good feed before you go, but its absolutely worth making time for. Enjoy!

Brilliant tour. I agree with above as don't want to give it away but for 14 euros nearly 5 hours and loads of info then it has to be worth it. Watch 'Where are we now' video from Next Day. Pass my regards to Phillippe, he's a top guy!
