My partner and I went to Berlin for a pre-Christmas break, and to experience the Christmas Markets. GendarmeMarkt was our first and was very good indeed. There were some stalls charging high prices for Christmas decorations and nic-naks, but plenty of really good food stalls....More

Arguably the most beautiful square in Berlin. There are three rather impressive buildings: the German and French Cathedrals as well as the Schinkel’s Konzerthaus. And just round the corner is the famous Rausch Schokoladenhaus.

An excellent Christmas market. Cost 1euro to enter but this was worth it. The variety of stalls was very good. Food and drink was fresh and delicious. There was live music in the evenings.

Full of colors, lights, wooden houses with beer, wurst, crepes, chocolates antiques, candles and other tourist objects. Very alive during the night with live concerts and very crowded. Take an umbrella cause there is no place to cover yourself. Eat, drink and dance!

Gendarmenmarkt is a lovely little square to visit anytime, but it's best to visit when the Christmas market is there. It's €1 entry per person to get into the market, but it's never over crowded which is great. There's lots of little craft, food &...More

the Christmas market is really nice and reflect exactly the traditions. The entrance costs 1€ . But be attention, at the entrance policemen throw away water bottle from your bags, like at the airport... I think is not correct. Anyway everything there is so cute!!

It is a very beautiful square with two identical churches. We visited a X-mas market with a live choir which was excellent!

Two churches and a concert hall, restored with great care and full of history. The concert hall balances the buildings either side.
