Neighbourhood: Friedrichshain
When you arrive at Warschauer Strasse in the heart of the district, you have found one of Berlin’s party hotspots. At night in Friedrichshain, the energy is palpable and the streets of this old worker's quarter are full of street musicians. On one hand, you may find a bar with international crowds, electronic music, long lines and panoramic views - on the other, an outside venue by old train yards featuring decrepit buildings and live alternative music. No matter your taste, the best way to end a night out in Friedrichshain is sitting by the Spree River at the East side gallery, the longest and best preserved piece of the Berlin Wall, watching the sun rise over the beautiful Oberbaum Bridge.
How to get there
  • Schlesisches Tor • 7 min walk
  • Warschauer Straße • 9 min walk

A must see
Jun 2021 • Friends
A must see in Berlin. Make sure to check the backside of the wall also, cool graffitis. Try to visit the wall early or late so that it’s not to crowded.

A new meaning
Jul 2021 • Friends
For sure worth visiting when you are in Berlin, it is a very long part of the wall that is still existing and is used for some really interesting graffiti for example the famous one of the kiss of two presidents. Some are meant to make you reflect. You can definitely walk about 20 to 30 minutes there, just one way. Very nice what they did to it, giving this awful place a new meaning.

Beautidul and really painfull spot too. Although it's art and beauty it is hard to acknowledge the bad history it's support.

The past is dark but present and future is brighter. Humanity should learn more from the past and plan & do good for the present and future generations. Was great to see tangible facts about this and art gallery around it

living history
Apr 2020
Here you can actually find the wall, real pieces of it and covered with old and new art pieces. Some are already world famous images, some not so much. It's a nice place for a stroll, but during warm season the tourists swamp the sidewalks making appreciation and pictures near impossible.

Different kind of art gallery
Aug 2020 • Couples
Part of tragic history is now an art gallery. Tje works of various artists remind us about the past. Mixed feelings seeing the "dead zone" between the walls, how near yet so far people have been from each other and living completely different kinds of lives.

Great art work
Nov 2020 • Couples
We visited on an incredibly rainy day, but it did not dampen our enthusiasm!
Seeing the history and the art work was moving, and it is well worth the travel to get to it.
There is also the beautiful Oberbaum bridge nearby.
Be aware part of it is covered in building hoarding, but only a small section.

A little disappointing
Oct 2020 • Solo
This is such a historic part of the city but I was disappointed. Part of the viewing is disrupted by a building that is being renovated which will not complete until well into 2021 so there is scaffolding over and around this part. Further along the remants of the wall can be appreciated with some fine art but also some graffiti like content.
