Address
Neighbourhood: Friedrichshain
When you arrive at Warschauer Strasse in the heart of the district, you have found one of Berlin’s party hotspots. At night in Friedrichshain, the energy is palpable and the streets of this old worker's quarter are full of street musicians. On one hand, you may find a bar with international crowds, electronic music, long lines and panoramic views - on the other, an outside venue by old train yards featuring decrepit buildings and live alternative music. No matter your taste, the best way to end a night out in Friedrichshain is sitting by the Spree River at the East side gallery, the longest and best preserved piece of the Berlin Wall, watching the sun rise over the beautiful Oberbaum Bridge.

you don’t have to wear black or speak german to get in!!!
all the 'rules' online on how to get in is very far from the truth. as a young english couple we was skeptical if we was going to get in but tried our luck anyways. the excuse you always have to wear black is not valid as i wore a khaki dress and my boyfriend wore a orange top not that it would have mattered as most people seemed to strip off when they got inside anyways. We went on a sunday at 10;30pm and the que was half hour. we had no problems getting in and everyone inside was pleasant felt safe and comfortable. we didn't speak a word of german but it did not matter the bouncers did not even speak to us just waved us in so i would not stress about studying the line up. entry was €25 and the drinks inside were reasonable. music was good and really lived up to our expectations. we will definitely be back

    Well my life is changed
Got in first try no problem. Wasnt expecting it at all. Proceeded to have an incredible 7 hours of my life. Even as a U.S raver, the energy in this place is unmatched. I understand why they do the exclusive door policy... to preserve the vibes. Either you belong in there or you dont. Hate to say it really. Too many tourists have gotten involved in the rave scene globally and people just wanting views that it has messed up the vibes everywhere. I will say, there was one bartender at pano who was very very rude and threatened to kick me out for trying to wave at him and get his attention. That was a bit extreme and unwarranted. Other than that, amazing place.

Legendary venue, caring personnel, brilliant experience 🖤⛓️
Epic Sunday on all fronts. The venue is iconic, the staff friendly and caring (they have an eye for new comers and give friendly advice for your safety), the DJ line-up was “fuego total” and the vibes immaculate. The blend of people makes for an interesting atmosphere where one feels very safe (remember folks, what you give is what you get so good vibes only and you shall be rewarded accordingly) For avid dancers with high metabolisms such as myself, the banana-cherry juice was a great staple, the chia pudding (a tad pricey but totally worth it) was perfectly tart/sweet, rich and so creamy and the Kartoffelsalat perfectly seasoned (not me doing a gourmet review for Berghain 😂) Last and not least, much love and thanks to the personnel who helped my friend when she got unwell. Professional, respectful and kind. Matze, you and your colleagues were absolute gold. A lot of club staff around the world could learn from you. Please, don’t change.

I have been in Berlin 6 times and have tried Berghain 3. I am a techno lover, all times I know what is going on and who's playing yet all 3 times I have been denied entrance. Once on a Friday night at 4am as a group of 3. Once on a Saturday at 5am as 2 and once on Sunday night around midnight as a group of 3 again(years 2018,2019 and 2020). It never seems to matter. The way I dress never seems to matter, the way I look at them never seems to matter. They look down on you like you're a low life pariah and do not even converse. "You dont get in" and point with a finger to go away. 3 times this! Well thanks a lot Berghain but you have really done it for me. Even if you begged me to go in there after the amount of times your door pigs have ruined my holiday and my nights I wouldn't go. I really do not get how this place is still running and also who's running it! I also do not get why really amazing djs who I do like and see elsewhere in the world keep playing there... so disappointed...

We got in the club at 12.30 luckily, after an hour queuing (we arrived at 23.30).
From the moment that you step inside this place, the atmosphere and the music bring you on a different planet.
A must!
Please do not pay attention at the negative comments that are posted by people who did not manage to get in. This club seeks for diversity and although many things are possible within the premises, people are kind and respectful!

I have been techno lover for the last18 years of my life (37 now). For me, techno community is inclusive and nonjudgmental, specially when it comes to clothes. I went to Berghein because I wanted to experience their sound system and enjoy music. Was refused 2 times. As I understand, there is really no rules but if you are a man dressing like woman, woman dressing like a man, animal, sado/maso or anything that is extravagant, you're definitely in. It is really not about music at the door, maybe it becomes about the music later. I think it was such a downer to be refused because any obvious reason but on the other side, Berlin is full of other clubs and Berghein is definitely not the only one where the music is in focus. Find some other place, less commercial and support Berlin underground scene. Berghein is just a big business, it is not art. :)

Don’t lose your time going to this club. No place in te world is greater than an individual. The place’s staff choose who to get in based on looks, and other futile criteria never disclosed. By itself, this is a racist and completely discriminatory practice that only puts the club status inside gay scene into shambles. You basically arrive at the door, do nothing wrong, and come out with the impression that you are not good enough to get inside. The club understand it is better than some people. Completely ridiculous. This is on the most diverse and free city of the word. A piece of United States racism inside Eastern Germany.

Very nice location, good music, great facilities. But what really counts: the people are really pleasant.

Dance, dance, dance, really dance for hours. Most people aren't just standing around or there to show off. What's important to me is that you don't get bumped into all the time while dancing. If someone wants to get through somewhere, you're gently touched and you don't get out of the dance rhythm. And you get an "excuse me" or "sorry". There are other decent clubs too, but I find the interaction here most pleasant.

I think it's wonderful that the people are really open-minded. I've rarely experienced such a nice coexistence of gay, lesbian and straight people. Of course there are people with fetishes, but by no means only them. Extravagant people are eye-catchers, but only those would not do the atmosphere of the club any good. There "have to" be people to look at ;-) Of course it doesn't "have to". But there are "normal people" in there too. I would describe myself as one of those, an almost 50-year-old.

The door: I have been turned away more than once. Not so nice, but if you look at the people who are inside, the security people have done a lot of things right. By the way: I have not seen a single "quarrelsome weirdo" in there. That deserves praise for the bouncers! And, you are not "the one who can't get in" but "one of many who can't get in". That hurts less :-)

I clearly object to the statement that the club is "discriminatory". These statements mainly come from the personal experience of those who have been turned away. Inside you can see how mixed the crowd is.

PS: dear Berghain, please set up cubicles inside the venue that look like they ARE toilets :-)

OVER RATED!! We waited in the freezing rain for 2 hours on 14th January from 2:00 - 4:00 am. Many people cut in line, act obnoxiously, and are generally rude. The bouncers don’t see any of this bc the line is so long. Once at the front it doesn’t matter what you’re wearing or how you look…the process is 100% random!! We only got in because we were lucky enough to be right after a run of No, No, No. They’ll then let a couple groups in before going No, No, No again. Inside the club is cool, but it is in no way that much better then many of the other amazing Berlin techno clubs.

Almost cult like organisation, strange place wouldn't recommend to anyone..... The patrons are absolute snobs... Who will say things like "you don't know how to behave at Berghain" its a nightclub not a church...and a pretty messed up one at that.

I arrived at an event at the Panorama Bar, looking forward to it, and waited outside for two hours before the beginning only to be denied entry at the door without any clear reason. I was neither intoxicated nor aggressive. Upon politely inquiring why, the bouncers immediately turned extremely aggressive, telling me to leave and approached me threateningly. When I requested them not to touch me, one of the bouncers physically pushed me away, stating they didn't have the time to explain. I am genuinely shocked by what Berghain considers acceptable behavior. It's incredibly unfair how someone, who is merely passive and asking a simple question, can be treated so harshly in less than ten seconds. For me, it's zero stars.

I managed to get in on the first try as it was my first time going to Berlin, dressed in a very normal black t-shirt and a pair of black shorts. No queue (it was 2pm on Sunday) and no questions from the bouncer. He just nodded for me to come in.
The situation inside is surreal, which is difficult and reductive to talk about in words.
I visited other clubs in Berlin including Tresor, about blanck and Watergate. All beautiful clubs, I highly recommend going there, but that place is different. The sound system at Berghain is without a doubt the best I have ever heard. Perfect speakers that shoot very severe techno accompanied by the most total transgression.
Berghain must be experienced to understand it, it cannot be described in words.
If you are a techno lover you MUST go through that door or at least try because it's really worth it!
Good luck!
