Good choice to get one's bearings in a city. Remember that each stop is about 5 - 10 minutes long, so this is not a tour to take if you are in a hurry. It does allow you to get on and off and explore places you want to visit, and has a good view from top of the bus.... More

Probably the worst city tour I've been on, little information about the sights it did stop at and you passed numerous sights that were never mentioned. The best that can be said is it gives you an idea of the geography of the city

Original Berlin Walks do several walks around Berlin lasting varying lengths of time. The most common is " Famous Walk " which hits most of the main sights and lasts 4 hrs. The others are a bit more specialised themed walks. We did two of these, the " Famous Walk " led by Brian and " 3rd Reich Berlin" hosted... More

Excellent hop on hop off tour and the audio commentary was very informative. The view from the top deck gave a really good panorama of the entire city.

Can not recommend this tour with Barnaby highly enough. If you are heading to Berlin this is a good first day tour to give you an idea what you want for the rest of your stay. Barnaby kept the subject light hearted when required but also gave a fascinating insight into the history and current views of Berlin. He was... More

Berlin memorable for all the wrong reasons. First, the bus driver converted out token purchased in the hotel, into completely the wrong type of ticket (a one day instead of a three day, two tour one), and that took ages to sort out. Two of the buses we used had wet seats upstairs where the roof didn't fit properly (being... More

How we regretted boarding this bus tour! Buses are so old they are falling apart, seats and floor are filthy and gross, and drivers only speak German. Spent hours inching through Berlin's infernal traffic on a junkyard bus when we could have seen all the landmarks during a nice walk.

We booked a day trip to Dresden from Berlin. We had no issues with either the booking nor with the meeting point and the English speaking guide approached us once we arrived at the meeting point. That is when we found out that the tour was in English and in Hebrew but it turned out it is mainly for Hebrew... More

We bought the combined tour of Classic Berlin and the West Berlin tour to be taken on 2 separate days. The lassic Tour worked as advertised. The next day we took the tour to west Berlin, including the Charlottenburgs hloss. The bus only comes by once an hour. We got off the tour to see the Palace and returned to... More

Bus tours are a great way to get a quick handle on a city. Once I'd probably have preferred to stick a fork in my eye than go on one of these "tourist" bus tours. But now, I'm all for them. This trip brought us around the main-event areas of the city - gave us the low-down on each. The... More

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighbourhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighbourhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
