Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

If you're tired of galleries full of same old paintings and sculptures labeled as "modern", here you will find works that actually challenge the concept of art. Interactive, disconcerting, amusing - and some of them unlike anything you've seen before. The exhibitions aren't permanent, but I was very glad with what I've seen. A real gem for modern art lovers, and not just a tourist spot for those who want to tick it off their list.

It has weird opening hours, but it is worth it!
I wish more of the text was in English, but still the exhibition was greatly organized and very interesting. This place is a must for art lovers.

If you are on a walk on the busy Oranienstr. and you want to walk away from the noise to see something more hidden then go to this building and walk inside. You will find at the end of the right corridor an art exhibition space.

Add this to your must-see's, off the beaten track in Berlin. A huge old hospital has been converted to a complex for artists and galleries and performances. The Three Sisters restaurant is very good, too. Too much is going on at all times, but worth wandering around and checking out the performances.

We visited Bethanien during the CTM festival (exhibition on Russian Pioneers of Sound Art and Musical Technology in the Early 20th Century), and it was well worth seeing. The exhibition experience was fantastic, the flow between exhibition spaces is nice, you don't have to see things twice and returning the same way. The park in front of the building is lovely, even during the winter. The building itself is amazing. If there is an exhibition, which would interest you, do not hesitate to visit.

I was shown the building from afar during a walking tour and was informed it hosts artists and their workshops. The next day I returned and had a wander around. I don't know if there are any exhibits upstairs, I didn't see any signs that suggested that. I wandered around the bottom floor until I spotted an exhibit sign and had a look. The small exhibit is outnumbered by the sheer amount of art on the walls in the corridors leading to it. But what the exhibit lacked in size, it made up for in creativity and vision. I saw art dealing with difficult topics such as sexual violence and religious taboos. Some superb pieces.
The building itself is worth a look and even has a cafe serving rather reasonably priced icecream. Erdbeeren is my recommendation there! The building is situated in Mariannenplatz park, a lovely little spot.
In short, I give this score as a balance between lack of information and obscurity versus the quality of what I found there.
