Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I highly recommend this tour and its idea of focussing on spots of Berlin that are not as prominent as the popular sights. Martina was a great guide with a lot of both passion and knowledge.

I've been on almost five of their tours so far and each one gave me insights about Berlin's history that I never would have found on another typical tour. The guides really dive into researching small but meaningful details that you would never notice walking along the street. They also both have experience with Eastern European knowledge and history, which adds a lot to understanding the past and present of Berlin.

10/10 would recommend!

Top quality! We took a comprehensive guided tour of the Charity Hospital and it's history. You could see that the guide Martina was passionate about this topic and that a lot of research had been made. I particularly appreciated the inclusion of ethical reflections on these important topics. Perfect if you want to try something different from the usual tourists tour.

The Charité tour was very interesting and intelligently structured!

It is a real trip through history and we met some iconic characters along the way.

Martina was a great guide and knows how to tell a story 🙂

We did the tour of Karl Marx Allee with Martina. Our tour guide offered a comprehensive, engaging, and entertaining verbal history of the street accompanied by various photos and architectural details. The tour is especially great for people visiting Berlin with niche architectural interests, or anyone living in the city wanting to learn about a small corner of its history. As we live in the city, we’re not so interested in fast-paced hop on/hop off tours, and this one certainly scratched our itch! We also did a tour of Hansaviertel last year with them which I also highly recommend.

This is the third BandB tour I have done, and, as usual, it was top notch. You cannot help but learn when the narrative is so compelling. (That is the special art they practice...making the hard facts into an enticing story.)

I really enjoyed Martina's walking tours through 300 years of the Charité.
Despite living in the environs of Berlin for 15 years, and once working around the corner from the Charité campus, I knew little about this important institution, which has contributed so much to medical science and survived through the turbulence of the last few centuries.
The tour will be improved when it mentions more about Rahel Hirsch, who became the first female professor of medicine in the Kingdom of Prussia at the Charité Medical School in 1913. This has been missing because of covid restrictions, now lifted.

I also enjoyed the ‘many lives of Stalinallee’ (Karl-Marx-Allee) tour. This street is key to so much post-war history, and yet it’s a place tourists rarely reach and locals know little about.
Martina posed the question ‘Is Stalinallee really a socialist street’ as was claimed when it was built. She gave us much food for thought to ponder on that question, and I’ve been thinking about it ever since. I still can’t answer it succinctly, but I could write a small essay about it.

Martina is personable, enthusiastic, deeply knowledgeable, and didn't talk down to us like on some historical tours I've been on.
Suitable for Berlin residents and tourists alike.

Charlotte is a historian, and very knowledgeable in the history of the Charité hospital, including that of the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. She has a delightful and easy-going demeanor, and was generous in sharing her knowledge, even carrying didactic materials (e.g., maps) to enhance her teaching points. She invited questions, and when she didn't know the answer, she was very humble in recognizing so.
