Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

King Frederick the Great needed to accommodate visitors near his Sanssouci Palace. The New Chambers are located in a building next to the Palace and was the answer to this. It may look simple and dull from the outside, but it is in fact a very beautiful building once you enter.

An excellent electronic guide is available in English, making a tour in these chambers a good experience.

The problem is that a lot of the old buildings are not really old & the whole area looks new- soulless & characterless. Nevertheless it is well done & will some day grow into it.
We basically spent a lot of time & money getting here by public transport, had a quick look, had perhaps the best best sausage at the cafe, that we had during our entire time in Germany & left.

You may need a map of the grounds in order to locate buildings like the Neue Kammern because there are few signs giving directions to such buildings and there are many paths. We just happened to be lucky to select a path that led to the back of the Neue Kammern. This building seems to be located behind the windmill. Like Sanssouci Palace it too has a yellow plaster exterior.

An audioguide is included with the admission so you don't have to wait for a timed entry ticket. At noon there were few visitors inside which was great for photo taking. Connecting rooms were located in one direction. We passed through several spacious rooms used for ballrooms or perhaps for banquets and then a few bedrooms. There were 7 rooms to walk through for 6 Euros. The spacious ballroom/banquet rooms were the jewels in this building. Decor was similar to that in the Sanssouci Palace - rococo style with lots of gilt trim used on the white ceiling, walls, and doors. White and black marble squares were used as flooring. One room, for example, was reminiscent of the Hall of Mirrors in Versailles with mirrors placed in arched openings and many crystal chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. Wall decor consisted of valuable procelain vases (Chinese?) or large paintings surrounded by gilt frames and gilt sconces. Scattered through the room in wall niches were white sculptures on pedestals. Connecting doors were elaborately gilt trimmed with more gilt images over the door. Bedrooms had wood parquet floors and beautiful drapes on the windows and alcoves where the bed was placed. These rooms had less gilt using color schemes of turqouise, coral, or pink. Allow a minimum of 20 minutes for a quick walk through.

Gardens at the back do not provide vistas; they are just ordinary formal green gardens enclosed with clipped shrubbery. A small fountain in a pool and classical sculptures like an urn provide height and focal points. One small garden provided a show of color with mixed annuals in a formal beds. These 2 gardens were reminiscent of Lawrence Johnson's enclosed garden areas in his Hidcote Gardens in the Cotswold, England.

I have no luck with Sans Souci. 10 years ago it was closed, now it was sold out because of covid restrictions. But Neue Kammern compensated it to a degree. Very nice museum.

We purchased one of the passes, giving us full access to most attractions in the Sanssouci complex, plus free public transportation, which is a bonus, especially since the park is so vast, you may need to hop on a bus to get from one pallace to another. Honestly... we were able to visit only four museums in one day. Once you get past the three attractions checked off your list, you definitely are on the winning side as the cost more than covers all entrance fees and it is a significantly better deal than individually bought tickets. The New Chambers were part of this package and they feature a very good collection of artwork. They are located on the side of the main road surrounding the park, down from the Historic Windmill.

Last Saturday, I visited this building, since I got the entrance for Sanssouci Castle at 16:00.

As with all attractions around Sanssouci Park, we have a chance to buy the ticket just for this building, as well as the ticket for all attractions around the park. The cashier who sells the ticket speaks in clear English, as well as suggested me for the places that I could visit before Sanssouci Castle. The entry is cheap (only 3 Euros), and you'll get an audio guide too!

For the castle itself, the interior is simply wow; seems the remains from the past is preserved really well! The English Audio Guide is the icing of the cake, explaining about the inside of the building.

If you want a cheaper alternative to Sanssouci Palace, or waiting for admission to Sanssouci Palace, consider this place a visit.

The Neue Kammern building is decorated, though not all of the rooms are still furnished. It's close to the main palace and the windmill, so it's convenient to see and is a lovely building, but you can skip it if you're short on time or if it's not included in your ticket.

I thought the most interesting part was the graffito left on the walls by the Red Army.

This palace is not as beautiful as the others in Sanssouci Park. If short on time, skip this one and Charlottenhof.

Although just few steps away from the main Sanssouci palace, the New Chambers (or Neue Kammern in German) seemed deserted in comparison to its more famous "brother". The former orangery building was turned into a guesthouse - just west of the main palace. The largest room is the Jasper Room with walls of red jasper and Sicilian marble. Worth a visit if you're not in a hurry - tourist buses do not seem to come there so at times you may have the rooms just to yourself :-) Audioguide was provided.

Originally built as an orangery in 1747, where they would bring the orange trees inside during the winter months. Fredrick the Great had this place converted into a splendidly decorated guest house for foreign royalty and other guests. Very lovely small palace to visit.
