We stopped here for a short time to enjoy the architecture, walk around it and take some photographs. There was no opportunity to visit inside but you could walk right up to it. From the bus you have to walk up the long drive to go up closer to this large palace.

Finding the right way to get to the castle from Berlin is already quite complicated as the website doesn't provide a decent explication. Then when you get to the Sansouci, even though you don't speak German and are listening to an Audioguide you are obliged to stand within a group lead by a German speaking guide which makes your visit... We reached here by bus and it will take you directly in front of the palace. The architecture is really awesome especially the statue at the roof. The environment is very peaceful and quiet. There was some building work going on here so disappointing but still a wonderful place.

For those who feel small when standing Reichstag in Berlin, this building will blow your mind! It was built to intimidate, and it does just that. Given the choice, a summer tour would be preferable as you are in and out in one hour in November. Yet in just one hour you can soak up the opulence, and the statement... More

A big beautiful palace guarded by two tall figures of angels. It's at one end (western) of the Sanssouci park. Quite a bit of a walk from the Sanssouci Palace, but level grounds mean its perfectly doable. I personally think this palace is more impressive than the Sanssouci Palace. But, it's probably best seen in summer on a clear and... More

This palace is inside the Brandenburger Vorstadt - a big park with palaces and others tourists points, but this is the most beautifu palace of Potsdam. I recomend between 3-4 hours to know the main important points in this park. You can buy the tickets in anyone of palaces - and you can get an discount buying the tickets to... More

Potsdam, the former capital of the German kings is worth the short visit from Berlin. The New palace was built to accommodate their visiting guests. The vast size of the rooms and their opulent furnishings left us spellbound. One of the smaller rooms on the ground floor was where Kaiser Friedrich died less than 100 days after becoming the emperor.... More

Long stroll through the gardens led us to this large palace. Demostration of power and glory of Prussia, it has over 200 rooms. It is considered to be the last great Prussian baroque palace. At the top of the dome Three Graces support the Prussian royal crown. It contains a grotto hall - unusual room with walls ornated with stones,... More

This is the most impressive of all the castles in Sanssouci. One of the first grand salons is the Grotto. It's walls are covered with 250,000 shells, as well as minerals and fossils. The gorgeous rooms are much larger than those on the other castles, and have bathrooms and central heating! The Grand Ballroom is out-of-this-world. I have seen castles... More

Since the main palace of Sanssouci is relatively small, eventually the added space by changing the Orangery to a collection of public and private rooms for guests, and to do some extra entertaining. The New Chambers will give you a good idea of how the rich and famous lived in the 18th century. The audio guide is really good.
