Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Binnenalster is an artificial lake fed by the River Alster. The lake is surrounded by magnificent buildings housing shops, restaurants, cafes and I think a few civic buildings too. The lake flows out towards Alsterarkaden and overall is a very picturesque place and good for a 20 minute walk all around the lake.

Was in Hamburg for first time for business. I had time to visit Binnenalster and walked around the entire lake/pond in one hour. Great people watching as well.

This is the smaller of the two artificial lakes in Hamburg.
The lake is located near the town hall square and offers boat hiring, restaurants, cafés and a beautiful setting with a bridge as the backdrop.
Especially beautiful after dark when it is dramatically lit.

Sadly the pavement and promenade around the Binnenalster are filthy and littered. its probably better to look at it from a first floor cafe from one of the surrounding buildings.

This part of the lake that was inside the city walls leading to its name. A road and railway bridge stand where the old city walls once stood. The lake is surrounded by streets on three sides with a wide promenade near the Rathaus. The promenade is home to many restaurants and bars and cruise boats depart regularly from here. A fountain in the middle of the lake makes for an interesting site.

You can sit on one of the many cafes around the lake and enjoy the view or take a cruise around the lake.

Nice area by the water. Many restaurants and shops are around. You can also jog there in the morning or have a nice evening walk.

The smaller of the 2 city centre lakes is a beautiful place to linger on a sunny day to watch the boats and the fountain. Very relaxed atmosphere where you can watch the world go by.

I was exploring Hamburg and came across the two man-made lakes formed from the Alster River. The Binnenalster is the smaller of the two.

It is lined with large buildings and has a lovely water jet fountain shooting a large spray into the air.

There is a walkway along the water's edge with places to relax and enjoy the views.

It is the smaller of two artificial lakes created by ponding the Alster river. Great place to hang out, enjoy looking , taking in the nearby sights, like the Town Hall and the shopping streets. Enjoy watching the swans, pigeons, ducks. A calming place to unwind in he centre of Hamburg city. After that can proceed to have a meal at the many eateries around.

By default, you would come across Binnenalster, which is identity of Hamburg. Vast lake with walkable tracks all around that measures about 7 KM, it is a favourite place for the morning walkers in Hamburg.

Taking you to the best of places of Hamburg, the alster boasts of a very tourist friendly place - you are never far from a bus stop, the walking path is dotted with some small eateries where you can nibble and sip, relaxing on the banks of the water.

A very lovely place. The charm multiplies many times in winter, with snow around, and in Spring when all the vegetations are in full bloom.
