It's a beautiful lake. It's really nice place to enjoy some water rides. There is a lot of calmness in this beautiful place and it really makes one relaxed and happy. Strongly recommended to enjoy and visit this place with a pedal boat. It's really worth it.

This lake is very close to the a nice shopping area. We got of at the Jungfernstieg station and from here on we could enjoy the lake and do some shopping.

This 7,4 km long trip around Aussenalster is most enjoying. There is a very fine life and natur to see along the way. Best in clear weather.

I love Hamburg because of the water so this giant inner lake is very typical for the city. Either by boat, bike or on foot, taking a tour of the Außenalster is very relaxing. You have a very nice view of the lake and nature but the beautiful architecture of the villas surrounding the lake is also not to ignore!

I do recommend to take a walk arround the Aussenalster or take one of the many ferries. A lot of people do the sport by running arround the Aussenalster.

There's such a nice view from there. I spent hours just looking around, taking pics and watching people. There's a cool fountain almost in the middle of it, and the place is surrounded by many shops (including an Apple Store), subway stations, restaurants and stuff.

Spending a sunny day at the Aussenalster is perhaps my favourite way to spend a lazy day in Hamburg. Although technically a river, the Alster feels like a big lake and is a gorgeous addition to the city. It is a short walk from the main train station, and offers a beautiful slice of nature right in the city. Take... More

It is really nice to have such a big lake in/near town center. It is big enough that ferries are operated (connecting into the adjacent canals) and sailing as well as rowing boats be used.

This set of two lakes is a must-see for any trip to Hamburg. Artificial lakes created from the Alster river, the Aussenalster is bordered by the city's shopping areas (Monckebergstrasse), government (Rathaus), and very nice hotels / restaurants. There is a public area at the south end of the smaller lake (the Binnenalster) with steps for folks to sit and... More

We stayed at a hotel with very good central location on the lake and took daily walks around to reach different parts of the city. The lake itself is not so fancy, but unlike other parts of the city so given this opportunity for some views and prospects. There are plenty of white swans and the middle of the lake... More
