About
On 350 m² we show more than 900 exhibits originated from the last 5 centuries. They give you details about the different possibilities of application and processing of raw spices. Moreover, there are approx. 50 kinds of raw spices you can smell, touch or even taste, if you like. The spices are partly exposed in original packing (sacks or chests) as they come from the different countries of origin, or on plates.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Possibly the most quirky and offbeat museum in the whole of Hamburg. If it wasn't for the little character sign outside, you probably wouldn't even realise it was there! It is hidden inside one of the old warehouses. It is up a few flights of stairs, so keep that in mind.

You are given a packet of black pepper as an entry ticket, which I honestly thought was quite cool. The museum is small with the text mostly in German, but there is still some English text. It takes you through the history of spices, as well as how certain ones are made and why they became popular e.g. Curry. There are also some really nice displays of vintage packaging, as well as a collection of unusual Salt and Pepper shakers.

Spicy's Gewürzmuseum (the museum of spices, in English) is a museum located in a building of HafenCity (Port of Hamburg), where you can learn about spices. It is a little museum and inside you can touch, smell and see a lot of different spices. Also, in the shop you can shop some of them. It is an interesting museum.
Pitifully, the museum is located in the high part of a old building without lift. So, if you can arrive here with a child is very complicated. They have to improve the entrance.

Small and interesting museum for those spices and exotic smells. A bit amateurish but a very good start since it is the first of its kind.

This could be an interesting experience if the organizers put some efforts in it. Now it was a big disappointment with everything in a big disorder. Samples for tasting were not fresh. Poor information and only in German. It is not worth a visit!

As a huge fan of everything even remotely spicy we visited Spicy's with high expectations. It is located on the second floor of one of the old warehouse buildings and we had to look around to find it as there was little visibility. Anyway, once we got in, we had to pay an entrance fee, which is out of proportion - read on. From what we understood, there would be opportunities to taste, this was not really the case. There are some spices you can smell and touch but that's about it. When I asked about this, the staff just looked at me and mumled something. Spicy's is also very small and not worth your time and money.

Very disappointed i expected to see spices in their origin state to the finished product. All we saw was sacks of spices, very little english translation. Museum lasted twenty minutes. We still have no idea what the pepper sachets were for? Dont bother going.

Nothing special to be seen here - I wouldn’t really call it a „museum“. Just a vaguely curated „collection“ of all things to do with spices.
There is no visible guidance, no concept, the spices on display are old and lack fragrance.
Avoid.

What bothered me about this is that you have to pay €5 entree fee to smell and touch some spices. There are a few machines that show how spices are made and where they are from . I was very disappointed .

I was very disappointing both in other the time and money I spent here. 4€ to get in (with the Hamburg card) and a quick walk through a small "museum."
Probably interesting for someone who enjoys the process of plant to spice ...
It was neat to run your hands through bag loads of cloves or spices etc

old, not nice…. no spicy vibes at all.
Not recommended, better see a market and
smell the spices there. Only point: are the differences of same spices and background informations.
