An impressive monument to Bismark. It's imposing and worth a visit. Considering who it's honouring you'd think the authorities would take more care of it. The base is covered in graffiti and broken bottles everywhere. Can't understand why there is no pride over it.

This Bismarck Monument is huge to the degree that it really stands out in Hamburg and stands out in a bit of an odd way...as in it doesn't quite fit. It is impressive though purely for its size. It looks a little soviet in style which is another reason that it didn't look quite right to me but I liked... More

We noticed the statue of Otto von Bismarck, the Iron Chancellor, lit up at night when we were walking back to our hotel nearby, so we paid a visit the following morning. The statue is located in the Alter Elbpark in the St Pauli district of Hamburg. It's an imposing statue but it's really disappointing to see all the graffiti... More

No visit to Hamburg would be complete without a visit to the memorial to Otto von Bismarck. Otto von Bismarck was the German chancellor in Imperial Germany from 1871 to 1890. His brand of politics earned him the nickname "The Iron Chancellor". The memorial is in the St. Pauli quarter off Helgoländer Allee in the middle of the Elbpark, between... More

Part of this park is very pleasant. Nestled amounts the trees and a bit hidden is this rather large statue. I was shocked at its condition. One has to look beyond the mess to see the detail and beauty of this statue. The walkway and stairs around the statue are overgrown with weeds and ill kept gardens; the area was... More

the Bismarck memorial statue is in a park calld Alter Elb park, which is on a hill leading from the St Pauli piers to Reeperbahn street. it is a quiet green park and the statue serves as place to rest from the uphill walk. during my visit there it seemed much cleaner than what I saw on other reviewers photo.

A pity about the graffiti and the rubbish. On our most recent visit (July 2015) there was a goat-like figure on Bismarck's head. Wonder why??

I saw the head of the Bismarck statue sticking out above the tree line when I was randomly walking around Hamburg and decided to go and check it out. The park around the statue is a nice escape from the busy streets around, and the statue itself is pretty cool. There is a large amount of graffiti art around the... More

Yeah, it's currently grungy and located near the bottom of the TripAdvisor rating scale, but it's well worth a quick walkabout. The history: this is the largest statue in the world of Otto von Bismarck, the " Iron Chancellor" (take the time to read about him, as he was quite the guy). This statue was built of Black Forest granite... More
