Lots to be impressed about the English Theatre. The location near the U3 and the Hamburger Meile make it very accessible by public transport or by car. Not far from one of the Alster canals if you want a stroll or relax before hand. Shame that there weren't a few more bars near the water. Plenty of food options nearby... More

we were invited by our german host to visit the theatre. we were astounded about the liberal use of four letter words in the performance - not doing justice to neither "English" nor "theatre"...... a good story, presented very crudely/poorly....

The English Theater has been in Hamburg for years. Have held season tickets off and on. For the most part have not been disappointed. The play season is varied. Challenging plays in many cases. Being an Expat from the States and involved in the States with community theater as director and actor, I do have some ability to judge. Over... More

Saw 'Candida' by George Bernard Shaw. All English cast performed superbly in this small intimate theatre. Very enjoyable evening popular with both German and English audiences. Close to Mundsberg station.

We had a great night at the English Theatre watching a comedy. The Theatre is a very professional operation, easy to book, easy to find, nice bar area, cloakroom and auditorium. The tickets were good value considering how long the play was and we will be certainly visiting again soon.

The English theatre, situated close to the large shopping centre at the Mundsburg, never disappoints. With a very strong cast and a lot of dedication in spite of confined spaces I have yet to see a performance that doesn't go over well with audiences of all ages. They also make their plays very accessible to learners by providing teaching material... More

This theatre is Germany's oldest professional English Theatre and in the quarter Mundsburg, a short journey away from Hamburg's city centre. Very close to the underground station Mundsburg, it can be found on the first floor of Hammonia Bad with box office on the ground floor. Founded in 1976 by two Americans, Robert Rumpf and Clifford Dean they usually bring... More
