Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A massive bunker equipped with solar panels in the middle of Wilhelmsburg is quite a spot. The highlight though is the panorama view on the roof top giving a unique perspective on the harbour and Hamburg city. Also there is a museum and restaurant integrated so you may spend some time there!

Given a new life to the benefit of the community. Construction activity around the flakturm when we visited (seemed to be a theme this Hamburg trip, (works everywhere) so couldn't approach it to gain entry. So, if there was a cafe, we will never know!

This World War II flak tower has been turned into a solar energy building in the middle of Wilhelmsburg. It is easily accessible using a city bus.

An incredible flak tower from WW2 that has been superbly and tastefully converted into an energy bunker. I took the full tour (remember the last one is at 4pm, tickets from the cafe) which gives you access to restricted areas including the roof and inner core. Guide was so helpful and full of knowledge. The cafe is a great place to eat and drink with wonderful views of the city. The staff were very helpful and They even organised a cab for me.

I moved to Hamburg for work and this is one of the best places I've visited in this beautiful city. It's amazing how a historically significant building is transformed into a lovely place to get a view of Hamburg while having a cup in one hand and a fork on the other. The staff members that runs the café are all friendly and welcoming. Solar panels are also installed in the bunker promoting the use of renewable energy sources, cool beans!
Take the S-bahn from Hbf to Wilhelmsburg and then take the bus 34 to the bunker.

Must visit not only because of the history here ( come on, it's a WW2 relic!) but the view of Hamburg is amazing!

Approaching the Energiebunker in the outskirts of Hamburg you are not impressed with the location of your dining destination - in an old concrete flak bunker! However, once you enter the premises all doubts are erased. There is a friendly, busy and vibrant vibe brimming with wonderful baking smells. The food for brunch is wide-ranging and caters for all palates. The view is stunning as you are many metres up and you can see all the way to Hamburg port and the Elbe River. Walking around the deck afterwards completes a unique dining experience that is unforgettable. The premises is also covered in solar panels providing the energy for the surrounding suburbs.

This is one of the two flak towers that was built to protect Hamburg during the war, it was also used as an air raid shelter, having been derelict for many years it has now been opened to the public as a Solar Energy plant.
in addition you are able to go up to the top of the bunker and walk the perimeter on the balcony level.
There is also a small café. and there are a number of very informative barcode operated interactive web sites that detail the history of the tower
it was one of the best things I did in a long weekend in the city

This building was a WW2 Flak Tower, it has now been born again as a solar energy plant with the enery potential to supply 5000 homes. It has an excellent Cafe on the roof, with wonderful views looking towards Hamburg and Hafen City.

Rooftop café on a ww2 bunker. Friendly atmosphere with simple but lovely arranged brunch.
Enjoy while having a spectacular view towards Hamburg skyline.
Not the last time I was there.
