I would recommend booking a tour or doing this with a guide to get the full significance of building, The tour we had booked of the area was cancelled at the last minute. So we were left on our own with a limited guide book. It is a stunning building and friends of our s booked a tour that told... More

This beautiful old building in the town of Hamburg is a place where you should go! It is one of the most historical buildings in town. It is built on the stones of the Hammer Burg. The Castle, where Hamburg got its name from. Enjoy a Tour and learn about the beauty of Hamburg.

We visited this area on a cruise to Hamburg, lovely clean city rather expensive in comparison to England. High quality stores, look but do not touch unless you intend to purchase. Bitter cold weather, if we were to visit again it would be a summer one.

I really recommend to visit the Rathaus. It was indeed a unique building. Moreover, there are gallery of charity works.

Let me start by saying I did not visit the inside of Town Hall. The architecture is quite interesting on the outside, and you are bound to pass this building if you are anywhere in central Hamburg. The square around Town Hall is beautiful, so it is a must-see in the city.

Took U3 and alighted at Rathaus to join the free guided tour. However, there was no guided tour for the day. Disappointed as we were but we took photos and enjoy the various art pieces on display. We also witnessed a couple taking their wedding photos there. The outside of the buidling is very impressive and elegant as it stands... More

It is a very bizarre place in a good way. The exterior is stunningly elegant. The lobby is a mix of lavish Prussian ironwork and brutal post modern interior. Down in the basement is the Soviet type restaurant with funky bar where the people's representatives lunch and consume afternoon cocktails as well as a snaps or two. It is open... More

You can also go inside and take a look around at the main hall. No pictures. It's worth to go there at night, and admire its beauty!
