Great for chillout

Ideal place to have some sports or relax during a long walk. Nice paths for shorter and longer walks. One of the best ways to spend time during sunny day in Hamburg.

Quite central, so should not be missed. The lakes freeze partially in the Winter, but in the Summer, the area is vibrating with life. All the cafés are pen, and you can go on boat cruise!

Alster lakes are most charming spots in Hamburg. Once you are there, you must see it! The best time in the summer, you need to dress warm if you come in the winter time.

These "lakes" are actually the dammed Alster river and it is a wonderful open natural space in the middle of the city. Its a great places to hire a boat and sail, paddle, drift around on. It is aso wonderful to just laze on the banks or to take a leisurely stroll or a fun run or cycle around. A... More

This is a pretty lake to the side of town and at Xmas the market hugs the side of the lake. It's beautiful with fab lights and is lovely to drink gluwein, do a drop of shopping and chill.

We visited Hamburg on a month-long road trip around Europe (8 countries). Hamburg was by far the biggest disappointment. It may be a nice place to live, but not to visit as a tourist! It is a modern, industrial, and pretty dirty city with no "big sites". The alster lake did not look particularly pretty nor clean. We were not... More

Hamburges claim Hamburg is one of the nicest cities in the world. What makes a lot of this claim is the two lakes: Aussenalster and Binnenalster. You can walk arround them and enjoy the scenery and FEEL GOOD!

Alster Lake is definitely the most signature landscape here. The beautiful scenery involves a lovely spring and many swimming swans. Enjoy yourself a cup of coffee here is an inexpensive treasure.

a wonderful lake in the city, plenty of boating activity, lots of cafes , people biking, walking, running along the shore. Magnificent autumnal colours. Would be wonderful to visit in summer.

Hamburg has a great chance to have this lake just at one end of the city center. Take a walk all around the lake (7km) to discover the beautiful old mansions that were luckily safe from bombing during the war.
