Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Chilehaus is a monumental example of Brick/German Expressionist architecture prevalent in Germany in the 1920s. This ten-story office building is truly monumental in size and has a very distinctive triangular, reminiscent of a ship’s prow.
Sadly, this style is not to my tastes being dark, gloomy with excessive use of bold dividing lines. It is a landmark building and worth a look if you're into architectural history.

I came across this building by accident but what a find. The Chilehaus is considered an exceptional example of the 1920s Brick Expressionism style of architecture (wikipedia). If this is your thing, make sure you walk round the whole building, not just through the courtyard as the 'prow' is hugely impressive. Venture inside and you'll be spoilt again. Chilehaus B has the more impressive interior but both A & B have original painted floor signs in the lobbies.
Just across the road (south of the Chilehaus) is another stunner. It houses the Chocolate Museum but if you take the office block entrance underneath some lattice stonework you'll find another superb interior. The staircase is stunning especially when you're up on the first floor. No one seemed to mind I was there taking photos so I guess they are used to it!
Finally, past the prow of the Chilehaus and across the road is the Sprinkenhof building. The facade is another brick marvel with lots of different circular bosses but the courtyard is also superb with an impressive number of windows. Check out the glass in each one, it's bowed which shows a massive attention to design detail.
A truly superb collection of buildings and I'm sure I missed even more in this area!

It's an old ship shaped building, but it's only this, very disappointing. If you are close to it go there and to the Chocolate Museum. If you're far, don't go, it doesn't worth the subway ticket.

This building is beautiful. Take the time to walk around it and view it from all sides. The workmanship is amazing and to think they built it in two years, I think.

A merchant from Hamburg traded spices, got rich and decided to build such a building. This is a stunning example of the 1920s Brick Expressionism style of architecture.

This exquisite building is over 90 years old and was built using dark brown bricks.
The building features countless white windows, which are contrasted by the dark bricks.
Despite the building housing mostly offices nowadays, it's still possible to visit its lavish interiors, if you're lucky and it's open.
Don't miss the inner courtyard and the corner of the building with its unique triangular shape.

The Chilehaus is a walking distance from the main shopping street in the old city of Hamburg, on the way to the warehouse ditrict. The building is beautiful and grand. The wall are decorated and it has an inner courtyard where you may sit and have coffee.

Ciao, la fermata più comoda è Messberg della linea U1. Quando esci dalla metro la vedi. Dovrai attraversare il vialone che passa tra la piazza in cui si trova la Chile Haus e la fermata della metro.
